Happy Birthday

A friend of mine invited me to her grandmother's birthday. Initially I thought it was purely my friend's longing to have family and friends gather together. But, the moment I walked into the birthday home, I realized it was the lovely grandma's excitement that exceeded everyone's energy.

During the event, all the guests were treated to wide range of delicacies - they were grandmother's personal favorites. The music in the background too, with a combination of old and contemporary touch added the much needed vigor to the event. In the end, when the cheerful grandma spoke about various incidents from her own life- a few humorous anecdotes, many inspiring moments and a few interesting stories, all of us were awe struck by her engagement skills. Further, she personally bid a warm goodbye to each of us when we were leaving. It was as if we knew her for many years.

Long after the birthday party had gone by, I still think of the wonderful grandmother who I met that day. Sadly, she is no more yet her spirit lives with me - she proved to all of us that age is indeed a mere number.
