KGF: Chapter 1

Note: This is a purely fictional work, though I was inspired by multiples of true-life events to write this story. And, the story has a loose connection with the 2018 period-action film KGF: Chapter 1 but, is a different story, inspired by some articles. As the story is too heavy, I planned it as a two-part chapter. It's quite a different approach, that I have attempted.

Trigger Warning: The story needs a strict and compulsory parental guidance for the children under 12 to 15 years of age, due to the strong threat and violence, present in the story.

2001, PARLIAMENT, NEW DELHI:

In 2001, at the Parliament office of New Delhi, Prime Minister Harbhajan Singh signs a death warrant, whom he tells: "I have heard a lot of stories about the bravery of warriors and soldiers. But, for the first time, I see a rebellion like him in my life. None should read about his history and most importantly, no one should write about him."

As the Military officers and ministers look at him, he continued saying to them: "In the upcoming generation, no traces of his history must exist. I am enforcing the army and signing the death warrant of the biggest rebellion in India."

BENGALURU, 2019:

"This is ridiculous. How can somebody write something so careless? That too, a senior report writer has written like this. It's unbelievable" said a Journalist named Pooja Hegde, who have read about the events of 2001 in the non-fiction book titled, "From Jaisalmer to KGF."

"Many agreed to publish this book. But, the government has burnt all the copies of it, after banning and seizing its copyrights. I got only one copy of this book through a source. Pooja, call him for an interview."

"Sir. Let him be a senior journalist. That I don't care. But, I think there are no truths being mentioned in this book and I am getting late for an important interview in Delhi" said Pooja Hegde and she takes leave, getting up from her chair.

"If the government itself is showing their interest to ban and seize this book means, there may be some truth here right?" asked the TV channel owner. Then he turns to her and tells, "I could be the owner of this TV Channel. But, you are the face of it and you have to take your own decision. But, for the past fifty years, I see Vikram Ingalagi. Before writing a word, he thinks for hundred times. If he has written a book means?"

Pooja gives him thirty minutes to bring Vikram Ingalagi for the interview and he arrives there. While, the owner orders his reporter Swaroop saying, "Arrange the interview in RKV room, Swaroop. Send all of them out. No one should come to know that, there is an event happening here. I don't want a live recording."

"Yes sir."

The 67-year old Vikram Ingalagi, wearing his spectacles comes inside the office, where he is greeted by the TV Channel owner. He gets inside the room and sits in front of Pooja Hegde. She tells him, "We are all journalists. Even if it's a big secret, we would dig it and bring it to the light of the public. There are lots of problematic events in the book, that you have written. I think a big revolution would come as a result of this. The problems directly point out bigwig in the society.

After pausing for a while due to an important phone call, Pooja Hegde now asked Vikram, "You have written Based on a true story. What evidence is there for this? Would people read all these things? Do you think, they would believe this?"

"Ah! Give that book madam" said Vikram Ingalagi.

Wearing his spectacles and taking a pen, Vikram Ingalagi strikes the words: "Based on a true story." And now he asked her, "Will our people read this book now?"

"Have you heard of Jaisalmer?"

"You mean one of the lost gold cities(like El-Dorado) in the middle of the Thar Desert." Pooja Hegde said to him.

"It was built in the year 1156 by the Rajput king Rawal Jaisal. The city was a golden age for city caravan step on the route between India, Persia, Arabia, and the West. Even if one managed to get gold from this city, he could have become a king. Am I right?"

"Hmm. Possibly" said Pooja Hegde.

"I have written a book, about such a person only," said Vikram and Pooja Hegde tries to tell him something asking, "But…"

"This is not an imagination, but real. To show it, there is only one witness in this world. That has got buried in a Rowan Tree. And it is a brave stone." As he is saying this, Pooja Hegde laughed and asked, "Brave stone?"

"It's not a stone, that has been in the river bed. In that stone, if they have sketched his face means, he should have achieved something big in his life." Thinking for a while, Pooja Hegde tells him, "I will dig it and take it, even if it is something big. I want to see it. The stone, if it exists, gets an excavation team ready. Even if it costs high, it's okay. Let's dig it out. Where is your big stone sir?"

Looking closer at him, Pooja Hegde asked him: "Where is it? The Jaisalmer of Karnataka?"

The cameraman and everyone look at him, waiting eagerly for his answers. Then, Vikram Ingalagi tells her, "The Rowan Tree of Kolar Gold Fields, Karnataka."

"From KGF town, there's a place called Baganur. From there, Five and a half kilometers, we could find a hill. Near to that hills, there's a Rowan Tree. If we dig that tree, we could get that brave stone, sir."

The TV owner tells, "Arrange a team. Go today itself and dig the stone."

"Sir. Are you serious? Within three days, I am having my marriage sir. How could I go believing the words of this old man?" asked the Journalist, who has read the address.

"The one who told about that address is Vikram Ingalagi. So, I am damn serious" said the TV Channel owner.

He reluctantly goes to the place. Meanwhile, Pooja Hegde brings the newspapers of the 1950s to 1980s and tells Vikram Ingalagi, "These are the newspapers of 1950 to 1980. I even checked those papers, that doesn't exist. There is no story about KGF in these newspapers. It's okay. Leave the papers. Leave this book too. Let's hear it from you." She said, holding the table and continued asking him, "Who is he? A hero or villain? What happened in that place?"

"He is neither a hero nor a villain. But, a rebellion against injustice." Vikram said and paused for a while.

A FEW YEARS BACK:

1950:

Wherever we are on earth, KGF is an inseparable part of our soul! We the citizens of this Golden city have all reasons to be proud of, for we are the children of KGF. 'The Land of Proudness-' and our ears always beat for it. Our KGF was also called "Little England" and is a mining area in the Kolar district of Karnataka, exactly 120 kilometers from our TV Channel. Gold has been mined there for over 2000 years, and whilst many people over the course of history tried their luck at finding gold.

But, the field's modern success is generally attributed to the local don Kalivardan and sons. But, the first success was attributed to John Taylor and Songs after John Taylor III took control of the mines in 1880 and established what was at one time the deepest and most productive gold mine in the world. After the independence, government officials discovered the gold ore but gets killed by Kalivardan.

After finding out the Gold ore, Kalivardan returned to his house and ordered his henchman to stab and kill Journalist Rathnavel Ingalagi, for trying to expose his atrocities. At the same time, he brought the lease contract of mining the Gold from Kolar, in the name of Kolar Limestone Corporation, and forcibly employed a few people for the mining activities. He has kept the place a secret and started his activities.

1958:

But, in 1958, a journalist named Rathnavel Ingalagi collected various information about the atrocities of Kalivardan and the mining activities, taking place illegally in the Kolar district. However, knowing this from some of his spies, Kalivardan sent his henchman and killed him. However, Rathnavel escaped from the place before his last breath, rescuing his 10-year old son, who got stuck in the fire, set by Kalivardan's henchman.

Before his last moments of life, Rathnavel gets him a promise asking him, "To have peace, one must employ peaceful means; for if the means are violent, how can the end be peaceful? If the end is freedom; the beginning must be free, for the end and the beginning is one. There can be self-knowledge and intelligence only when there is freedom at the very outset, and freedom is denied by the sequences of authority. My son. Life is full of battles. To survive, you have to fight to the last and stand your ground. Make me a promise that, you would do something that's useful for society." Karthick Ingalagi makes a promise to him saying, "Dad. I don't know how would I live a life. But, I make a promise to you that, I would achieve something, before dying." After his cremation, Karthick shifts to Mumbai, where he is adopted by an orphanage, who saw him begging in the streets.

1978:

In 1978, there was a cold war between Iran and Afghanistan. Because of this war, the rift increased between the USA and the Soviet Union. The impact of this war was a major setback to the world and it dominated the world countries as a result. Oil, Coffee, Steel, Copper, and amidst all these things, Gold's price shot up. Because of the rise of Gold's cost, Kalivardan became rich and powerful.

To protect this empire, he used five partners as his bait:

After the death of Amit Bhargav, his son Vinay Bhargav melted the gold from KGF in Varca and the exported gold are supplied by Mahendra Desai, the high-ranking officer of KGF. And the West Coast was controlled by William James. He controlled politics by collaborating with politician Raghava Pandian in New Delhi. His major strength was his son Raavanan and step-son Guberan.

But, Raavanan chased out Guberan from KGF and he went to hiding in Mumbai, staying with the opposition party of Raghava Pandian, which was headed by Harbhajan Singh's party. At that time, Kalivardan fell ill and became paralyzed. As Raavanan took charge of the KGF after worshipping Lord Shiva, the associates plan to grab the fields, taking it as a right opportunity.

MUMBAI, 1978:

JAWAHARLAL NEHRU PORT:

And Jaisalmer-based gold smuggler Pulkit Surana found this as a right opportunity to step inside Bombay, owing to his greed for Gold. He joined hands with Rajesh Shetty's (Underboss of William James) nemesis Rohit Shetty. He sent his gold to Jawaharlal Nehru Port. Before the gold arrives, Rohit intended to bring the entire Bombay to his control.

"Rohit's men, asked to take down the entire gang of Rajesh Shetty," said one of the henchmen.

"Our own men have gone inside ah? Are they senseless?" asked an angry Rakesh to his henchman.

For the very first time in Indian History, Bombay was on high alert due to the escalating gang war between the two groups. When Rohit was trying to bring Bombay under his control, a big challenge came in front of him.

"Bhai. Some bike called Monster is intruding our activities" said a henchman.

"Hey. Search that bloody fellow man. Search him everywhere" said a henchman and they find out the owner of the bike and tie him up, after beating him severely.

"May God bless you. May God bless you." The Monster sang the song and angered, the henchman tried to attack him. But, the monster wakes up, with his bloody face and shows up his army-cut hairstyle. He severely beats up the henchman and kills them all, using his Gun and grabbing a nearby knife. Going out, he chases the gang in the street and brutally finishes them off, pushing them to the Jawaharlal Nehru port, and finally, he kills Rohit Shetty, using the knife. But, before killing him, Monster asked him: "Hey. Where is that butcher knife da?"

In Bombay, if the sea is on one side means, Monster is on the other side. Even if the sea waves have to touch, you have to ask the permission of the Monster. Meanwhile, Monster's boss Colonel Sunil Sharma calls him and asked him to meet him in the New Delhi office of RAW.

It was formed in 1968, after the Sino-Indian war to gather details about foreign intelligence, counter-terrorism, counter-proliferation, advising Indian policymakers, and advancing India's foreign strategic interests. Now, the monster meets his senior officer and there, his senior officer asked him, "General Karthick. Why did you kill Rohit Shetty and his gang? Now, everything would have gone awry."

However, Karthick tells him: "Sir. As per our plans only, everything is going. But, I made another plan sir. Instead of letting both the gang clash, I made a plan to kill Rohit Shetty, so that we can implement Operation KGF."

Convinced with his plan, the officer now asked him: "Ok. What's your plan now?"

"To enter into the KGF, sir," said Karthick(Monster).

To forward my book "From Jaisalmer to KGF" I got a major turning point and that's Bangalore.

PRESENT:

"Sir. Stop, stop. I am not able to get what you are saying. What's the link between a RAW agent and KGF?" asked Pooja Hegde.

Vikram Ingalagi tells her, "Madam. For that, you have to learn another history."

1950 to 1962:

Karthick studied in a school at Pune, which was connected to the orphanage. When he was in the leisure time of his studies during public examinations in his higher secondary education level, he studied about various warriors like Napoleon Bonaparte, Chatrapathi Sivaji, Prithviraj Chauhan, and Tipu Sultan. Drawing inspirations from their ideologies and perspectives, Karthick further studied Subash Chandra Bose and a few more Indian political leaders. He made himself ready to rebel against the atrocities of KGF.

During their school days, he participated in sports to maintain his body fitness. And during the college days, he enrolled himself in NCC(National Cadet Corps). There, he was trained physically with hard level training activities like trekking, shooting and lifting heavy items, which is common in Indian Army. When he was 21 years old, before the Sino-Indian war emerged, he got selected in Indian Army and got trained up for six months, there.

The main cause of the war was a dispute over the sovereignty of the widely separated Aksai Chin and Arunachal Pradesh border regions. Aksai Chin, claimed by India to belong to Ladakh and by China to be part of Xinjiang, contains an important road link that connects the Chinese regions of Tibet and Xinjiang. China's construction of this road was one of the triggers of the conflict.

The 1940s saw huge change with the Partition of India in 1947 (resulting in the establishment of the two new states of India and Pakistan), and the establishment of the People's Republic of China (PRC) after the Chinese Civil War in 1949. One of the most basic policies for the new Indian government was that of maintaining cordial relations with China, reviving its ancient friendly ties. India was among the first nations to grant diplomatic recognition to the newly created PRC.

In 1950, the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) invaded Tibet, which all Chinese governments regarded as still part of China. Later the Chinese extended their influence by building a road in 1956–67 and placing border posts in Aksai Chin. India found out after the road was completed, protested against these moves and decided to look for a diplomatic solution to ensure a stable Sino-Indian border.

In 1954, Nehru wrote a memo calling for India's borders to be clearly defined and demarcated; in line with previous Indian philosophy, Indian maps showed a border that, in some places, lay north of the McMahon Line. The same year, China and India negotiated the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, by which the two nations agreed to abide in settling their disputes. India presented a frontier map which was accepted by China, and the slogan Hindi-Chini bhai-bhai (Indians and Chinese are brothers) was popular then. Nehru in 1958 had privately told G. Parthasarathi, the Indian envoy to China not to trust the Chinese at all and send all communications directly to him, bypassing the Defence Minister VK Krishna Menon since his communist background clouded his thinking about China. According to Georgia Tech scholar John W Garver, Nehru's policy on Tibet was to create a strong Sino-Indian partnership which would be catalyzed through agreement and compromise on Tibet. Garver believes that Nehru's previous actions had given him confidence that China would be ready to form an "Asian Axis" with India.

This apparent progress in relations suffered a major setback when, in 1959, Nehru accommodated the Tibetan religious leader at the time, the 14th Dalai Lama, who fled Lhasa after a failed Tibetan uprising against Chinese rule. The Chairman of the Communist Party of China, Mao Zedong, was enraged and asked the Xinhua News Agency to produce reports on Indian expansionists operating in Tibet.

Border incidents continued through this period. In August 1959, the PLA took an Indian prisoner at Longju, which had an ambiguous position in the McMahon Line, and two months later in Aksai Chin, a clash at Kongka Pass led to the death of nine Indian frontier policemen.

As a consequence of their non-recognition of the McMahon Line, China's maps showed both the North East Frontier Area (NEFA) and Aksai Chin to be Chinese territory.[46] In 1960, Zhou Enlai unofficially suggested that India drop its claims to Aksai Chin in return for a Chinese withdrawal of claims over NEFA. Adhering to his stated position, Nehru believed that China did not have a legitimate claim over either of these territories, and thus was not ready to concede them. This adamant stance was perceived in China as Indian opposition to Chinese rule in Tibet. Nehru declined to conduct any negotiations on the boundary until Chinese troops withdrew from Aksai Chin, a position supported by the international community. India produced numerous reports on the negotiations, and translated Chinese reports into English to help inform the international debate. China believed that India was simply securing its claim lines in order to continue its "grand plans in Tibet". India's stance that China withdraw from Aksai Chin caused continual deterioration of the diplomatic situation to the point that internal forces were pressuring Nehru to take a military stance against China.

1960 MEETINGS TO RESOLVE THE BOUNDARY QUESTION:

In 1960, based on an agreement between Nehru and Zhou Enlai, officials from India and China held discussions in order to settle the boundary dispute. China and India disagreed on the major watershed that defined the boundary in the western sector. The Chinese statements with respect to their border claims often misrepresented the cited sources. The failure of these negotiations was compounded by successful Chinese border agreements with Nepal (Sino-Nepalese Treaty of Peace and Friendship) and Burma in the same year.

According to the Home Minister in Delhi on 4 February 1962:

"If the Chinese will not vacate the areas occupied by her, India will have to repeat what she did in Goa. She will certainly drive out the Chinese forces."

On 5 December 1961 orders went to the Eastern and Western commands:

[...] We are to patrol as far forward as possible from our present positions towards the International Border as recognized by us. This will be done with a view to establishing additional posts located to prevent the Chinese from advancing further and also to dominate any Chinese posts already established in our territory.

This has been referred to as the "Forward Policy". There were eventually 60 such outposts, including 43 along the Chinese-claimed frontier in Aksai Chin.

Kaul was confident through previous diplomacy that the Chinese would not react with force. According to the Indian Official History, Indian posts and Chinese posts were separated by a narrow stretch of land. China had been steadily spreading into those lands and India reacted with the Forward Policy to demonstrate that those lands were not unoccupied. Neville Maxwell traces this confidence to Mullik, who was in regular contact with the CIA station chief in New Delhi.

The initial reaction of the Chinese forces was to withdraw when Indian outposts advanced towards them. However, this appeared to encourage the Indian forces to accelerate their Forward Policy even further. In response, the Central Military Commission adopted a policy of "armed coexistence". In response to Indian outposts encircling Chinese positions, Chinese forces would build more outposts to counter-encircle these Indian positions. This pattern of encirclement and counter-encirclement resulted in an interlocking, chessboard-like deployment of Chinese and Indian forces. Despite the leapfrogging encirclements by both sides, no hostile fire occurred from either side as troops from both sides were under orders to fire only in defense. On the situation, Mao commented:

Nehru wants to move forward and we won't let him. Originally, we tried to guard against this, but now it seems we cannot prevent it. If he wants to advance, we might as well adopt armed coexistence. You wave a gun, and I'll wave a gun. We'll stand face to face and can each practice our courage.

EARLY INCIDENTS:

Various border conflicts and "military incidents" between India and China flared up throughout the summer and autumn of 1962. In May, the Indian Air Force was told not to plan for close air support, although it was assessed as being a feasible way to counter the unfavourable ratio of Chinese to Indian troops. In June, a skirmish caused the deaths of dozens of Chinese troops. The Indian Intelligence Bureau received information about a Chinese buildup along the border which could be a precursor to war.

During June–July 1962, Indian military planners began advocating "probing actions" against the Chinese, and accordingly, moved mountain troops forward to cut off Chinese supply lines. According to Patterson, the Indian motives were threefold:

Test Chinese resolve and intentions regarding India.

Test whether India would enjoy Soviet backing in the event of a Sino-Indian war.

Create sympathy for India within the U.S., with whom relations had deteriorated after the Indian annexation of Goa 279 .

During this time, Colonel Surendra Varma, Karthick Ingalagi's boss called him for executing the operation of chasing out Chinese army from the Indian borders of Arunachal Pradesh.

In June 1962, Indian forces established an outpost called the Dhola Post in the Namka Chu valley to the south of the Thag La Ridge. The Dhola Post lay north of the map-marked McMahon Line but south of the ridges along which India interpreted the McMahon Line to run. In August, China issued diplomatic protests and began occupying positions at the top of Thag La. On 8 September, a 60-strong PLA unit descended to the south side of the ridge and occupied positions that dominated one of the Indian posts at Namka Chu. Fire was not exchanged, but Nehru told the media that the Indian Army had instructions to "free our territory" and the troops had been given discretion to use force. On 11 September, it was decided that "all forward posts and patrols were given permission to fire on any armed Chinese who entered Indian territory".

The operation to occupy Thag La was flawed in that Nehru's directives were unclear and it got underway very slowly because of this In addition to this, each man had to carry 35 kilograms (77 lb) over the long trek and this severely slowed down the reaction. By the time the Indian battalion reached the point of conflict, Chinese units controlled both banks of the Namka Chu River. On 20 September, Chinese troops threw grenades at Indian troops and a firefight developed, triggering a long series of skirmishes for the rest of September.

Some Indian troops, including Brigadier Dalvi who commanded the forces at Thag La, were also concerned that the territory they were fighting for was not strictly territory that "we should have been convinced was ours." However, Karthick took charge for the war and he chased out the Chinese army from the borders, resolving the issues.

PRESENT:

Hearing all these events, Pooja Hegde now asked Vikram Ingalagi, "Ok. Your hero fought with the Chinese Army. Then, how was he included in Operation KGF. Who was the mastermind behind his inclusion?"

After blinking for a while, Vikram Ingalagi replied her saying, "Prime Minister Harbhajan Singh."

SEPTEMBER 1978:

Following the Sino-Indian war, Karthick finished several important operations for Indian Army, under the head of his Colonel Surendra Varma and impressed with his bravery and valor, the RAW agent recruited him from the Indian Army, shortly after it's formation on 1968, during 1975.

After Indira Gandhi's government was defeated, Harbhajan Singh's party took charge in India under people's decision. His first motive was to eliminate the mass slavery in KGF. For this, he met with Karthick's present senior officer Sunil Sharma and told him about the entire atrocities and events happening around the KGF, further brining in Gubera, Ravanan's elder step-brother, who details the events.

They formed a mission titling as, "Operation KGF" targeting Kalivardan, Ravanan and the associates surrounding the place. Knowing that Rohit Shetty's gang is arriving to finish off Rajesh Shetty's gang, they planned to use this as an golden opportunity to enter into KGF. But, Karthick didn't use this opportunity and he instead, intended to use Rajesh Shetty as a bait to enter KGF.

PRESENT:

"And what happened as he arrived to Bangalore? Did your hero succeeded in his mission or he got defeated?" Pooja Hegde asked him, to which Vikram Ingalagi states: "In Ramayana, when Seetha was abducted by Ravanan, Lord Rama went a lots of miles and challenges to kill him. Because, he was so powerful and was blessed with lots of gift by Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva and he had 10 heads. Likewise only, here too. This Ravana was much more powerful and was cruel. So, it wasn't easier for him to achieve the mission easier."

BANGALORE, 1979:

While residing in Bangalore, Karthick meets Yashika, a girl who was getting trained in Karate at the same place. He befriends her slowly and becomes attached to her within few days. Realizing her good and caring nature, Karthick slowly falls for her and at one fine day, he proposed his love to her. She is initially taken aback by his proposal and henceforth, holds her reply for some days.

Meanwhile, Rajesh Shetty meets Karthick. Thinking that, he have saved him, he hires him for assassinating Ravanan meeting him secretly at Bangalore. And Shetty's boss James too hires him for the same, sending him with another guy Virat.

At that time, Karthick's senior officer Sunil Sharma meets him in Bangalore and asked him, "Do you know whom have you proposed your love?"

After pausing a while, he tells him: "She is your ex-boss Colonel Surendra Sharma's daughter Yashika da."

Karthick laughed and tells, "Sir. You know? When you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.”

"Stop this Karthick. I think you would very well know, for what purpose have you came to Bangalore!" Sunil Sharma said to him.

Smoking a cigar, he tells: "Since I have came here, I didn't know what's the problem going in KGF sir. But, after meeting Shetty's boss James Williams, I came to know about their master plan."

"What's that master plan?" asked his boss, to which Karthick explains everything.

FEW HOURS BACK:

James said to Karthick, "Monster. You have the capability to do this one. You have to take down an elephant! Rajesh would tell rest of the plans."

"Within a few days, a function is organized here in Lord Siva Temple at Kolar. Before the function starts, you have to finish him off in the road Karthick. For going to this temple, there is only one way. The back gate. If my analysis is right, he would come through the main road, that have low population." Karthick agrees to execute this mission successfully.

PRESENT:

On the one hand, Rajesh Shetty and James Williams believed that, "Karthick doesn't know about the one, who is coming to the temple." But, on the other hand, "Karthick uses this temple ritual as a golden opportunity to assassinate Ravanan." He tells this to Sunil Sharma saying, "Sir. The associates are in pursuit to capture the KGF after Ravanan is killed. But, I have plans to eliminate the entire associates, involved in the KGF, once Ravanan is killed. This is Plan B."

Sunil Sharma tells, "All the Best Karthick. And be careful. Since, this is our operation inside the country. So, think before you act." Karthick tells him, "Sir. In war, it doesn't matter who stands first. But, people see who falls at first. So, don't worry sir."

Before he can start "Operation KGF", Karthick grows closer with Yashika and tried to impress her through various means, but all goes in vain. However, she sees Karthick motivating an young boy to fight all evils in his life, explaining about his own life events, where he witnessed so many tough battles in order to survive this human world. This have a change in her heart and she decides to give him a test, to prove his love as true.

1981:

Meanwhile, in 1981, an young Vikram Ingalagi comes to meet a local man in Bangalore and asked him, "Sir. None are telling me about him sir. At least you can…"

"Come inside" said the local man and he goes inside his house. Sitting in a chair, he tells him: "Don't worry sir. I won't include your name in the book." Smoking a cigar he tells, "You have to include my name. Narasimha Reddy, son of Sundaram Reddy. Write and now ask me?"

"Sir. Before he joined Indian Army and RAW, some told he had other names such as: Karthick. How it became monster?"

"He have made a decision to become a warrior during the childhood itself."

"Warrior ah?" asked Vikram Ingalagi.

"Let me narrate you an incident. Hear it." Narasimha Reddy said to him. He narrates him about an event, that had happened during the Sino-Indian war, with the Chinese.

1962:

During the war, when a Chinese soldier attacked Karthick's soldier and subjected him to brutal beatings, he intervened and slapped the Chinese soldier.

"Hey. Are you trained truly or pretending to be a warrior? Slapping" said the Chinese General Wu Bohai and he tried to hit him. However, he sees the Indian Army officers coming after him and surrounding.

The whole place was filled with snowfall and wind blows were severe during the time period. Wu Bohai pleaded for mercy. But, Karthick mercilessly tortured him and amputated his fingers. Fearful, the Chinese army ran away telling: "Monster. He is a monster."

"Since 1958" said Karthick.

"General, General, General, General…"

"Sir. How did Indian Army accepted him as a branded and brave officer, despite his cruelty?"

"When the Chinese army itself ran away from the place means, people have to accept his brave attitude right?" He said to him.

PRESENT:

"Sir. You have deviated from the story!" said Pooja Hegde.

Becoming alerted, Vikram Ingalagi asked her, "Where I have deviated?"

"During the phase, where you was explaining about Ravana's elimination, you unnecessarily went into the phase of Sino-Indian warfare" said Pooja Hegde.

DECEMBER 1979:

Karthick came to know that, "The grey colored trucks, carrying Gold have came to Bangalore with full-police protection. So, he started to search the reason for this confusing puzzle."

Karthick came to know about the Gold in the go down and confirms that, "The gold is coming from South Africa" and is Shetty's. With the help of Shetty's men, he comes to know about the heavy guarding for Ravanan and further learns, "It's not easier to assassinate him."

The same time, Karthick meets Yashika and her friends, who guards her in a pub, where she tests him with a few girls, whom he refused to touch nor grows closer with them. Then, she hires her men and they holds him in gunpoint. Yashika however stops him and tells, "Don't waste the bullets. He is not worth of it."

"You know why have I brought them? To show your true face to my friends. There's a limit for everything. That too, you are intending to marry a girl like me. Yet, I give a chance for you. Cross all these men and touch me. Then, I would be yours." As she says this, he distances back and leaves the place, seeing to which all laughed and they tells, "He needs guts to touch her" and additionally the others say, "Go and wear bangles in your hand man."

Going out, he gets a cigar from one of the men and pours petrol inside the place, where Yashika and her friends are standing. One of her friends smell the petrol and the others are feared. Instead of touching her, he explains her about the importance of love and warned those, who ridiculed about his guts and asked him to wear bangles.

The same time, Colonel Surendra Varma meets him along with Sunil Sharma and they asked him about his work here. There, Karthick tells: "Sir. I have analyzed about my plans well only. The temple where Ravanan is coming is highly populated and there are taxis, markets and several places, having his henchman. So, I planned to finish him off, when he comes to meet Raghava Pandian's party office."

"What are you talking Karthick? There would be police protection on either side. And even army officers and defence officers would be available there. Surely, they could recognize you." Sunil Sharma expressed his concerns.

Rajesh Shetty and his men finds out Karthick to be an undercover RAW agent and tries to kill him. However, Sunil Sharma and Surendra Varma makes a deal with them that, "If Karthick kills Ravanan, the KGF would be in their hands." He calms down, upon hearing this.

During the party meeting, Karthick goes along with Rajesh Shetty, James Williams and Mahendra Desai and meets Ravanan, who is wearing a coat suit and black pants, holding a king crown in his head. He addresses himself as the successor to father Kalivardan and warns everyone, who tries to oppose him. Karthick doesn't shoot him, deciding to take another opportunity.

Since, Ravanan's mole in the KGF associates gang have surrounded them in gun point.

Karthick enters into the KGF, guarded by dangerous and ruthless people, with guns. He mingles along with the Tamil people, who are forcibly roped in for mass slavery by Ravanan's men. He brutally murders and eliminates the first phase henchman of Ravanan when he entered with his bike.

"He have prepared to go for KGF. He doesn't know his end as well as the start. And he have mingled with the Tamil people." As Karthick is fluent in Tamil-Kannada-Hindi, he manages to cope with the language, spoken by the people.

At its peak KGF was home to 30000 mine workers and their families and was a multi ethnic community with experienced miners recruited from around the world, a large proportion of which were from Cornwall. When the mines opened the local people were reluctant to work there as it was extremely dangerous work, so workers migrated from Tamil Nadu and Tamil became a common language spoken by most people at KGF. There was a large Anglo-Indian population at KGF many of whom took on the roles of British workers after Indian Independence in 1947.

The mined gold was shipped back to England, making the British shareholder's incredibly wealthy. Inequality was prevalent, the British workers enjoyed sprawling bungalows, whilst the poorest Indian workers lived in mud floored one room huts which often housed more than one family at a time along with a number of rats. It was also the Indian workers who carried out the most dangerous work at the mines.

Meanwhile, Kalivardan suffers a second paralyze attack and is in his death bed. Because of this, he assigns Ravanan as the head of KGF. However, Ravanan sends away Guberan to enjoy the property of KGF. He realized Guberan and several people are having their eyes on KGF and took an oath to destroy them, in front of Lord Shiva.

Meanwhile, Karthick sees laborers, getting tortured by the henchman of Ravanan. Even the blind slaves are mercilessly tortured by them and is hugely disappointed. Many guesses Karthick as his savior and he is surprised and shocked with this. He can't use his phone, as told by his senior officers and the associates of KGF.

Analyzing the system of KGF and observing the guards, he slowly adopts to the place and realizes so many issues such as Mass Slavery. During the time, so many people are killed mercilessly and Karthick doesn't mind it off. However, his compassion comes into his mind when he sees a father, getting killed in the hands of the KGF henchman and he starts to revolt against the atrocities.

1981:

Vikram Ingalagi asked to Narasimha Reddy, "You are having a lots of guts anyway sir. Many feared to tell this. But, you are boldly saying about these events."

"Why to fear for this man? If your book gets published means only right?"

"Why?"

"If he leaves means only right?"

Narasimha Reddy reveals about the events in KGF when he asked him the reasons to hide and fight against the people as a coward.

"If anyone comes with gang means, he is called a gangster. If one comes as a single, he is called a rebellion." Narasimha Reddy laughs after telling this.

PRESENT:

Vikram now tells Hegde, "Kalivardan knows very well that, there's war happening for KGF and the war would grew up higher. He additionally know about the tricks and cheats in the place."

1979:

Meanwhile, Mahendra Desai meets Raghava Pandian who tells him about the rising popularity for Harbhajan Singh in North Indian states. He tells, "We need to give money for gaining respect. But, for him, they gives respect, when he steps in itself." Further, Kalivardan the same time, warns Ravanan to be safer, telling him indirectly about the role of his associates to grab KGF. The minister further unveils about Operation KGF planned by Singh and RAW agent Sunil Sharma to the associates, which shocked them.

Karthick doesn't know about this as he is in KGF. But, Surendra Varma and Sunil Sharma comes to know about this. But, decides to go into hiding, after informing to Harbhajan Singh before the associates could find them out.

The same time, Karthick and the others are asked by Ravanan about the one, who stepped into Maintenance room and to save him, a laborer steps in and gets killed. This goes as an information to Sunil Sharma and the KGF associates. Yashika becomes shocked. Since, they have misinterpreted the death of laborer as Karthick's.

However, Karthick now becomes angered and is emotionally disturbed with this incident. He starts to eliminate the people of Ravanan's brutally and plans to go by himself to finish off Ravanan.

Seeing the fire, KGF's spy(including some army people, without the knowledge of the associates) informs to the associates and Sunil Sharma that, "Karthick is alive" and hearing this, Yashika feels happier. Additionally, Karthick have burnt the henchman of Ravana.

And as Ravana learns of the events and flees, Kalivardhana's advisor Sastri suffocates the latter(Kali) to death.  Following his death, he realizes several ominous events and decides to perform a ritual for Lord Shiva the following week, vowing to kill his father's accomplices once the ritual is over.

At the mine, Karthik seizes the opportunity and unsuspectingly goes through a tunnel to where he decides to cut off the heads of three slaves as an offering to Goddess Garuda.  At the same time, Vanaram discovers that the third decapitated slave is still inside the palace;  He realizes that an impostor who plans to kill Ravana has taken his place.  Shastri rushes towards the place of sacrifice, but is too late.  When Ravana returns to the place and sacrifices two slaves, Karthik emerges from the hidden water and cuts off his head.

Everyone including Shastri, Tamil workers and other people present at the place are very shocked to see the severed head of Ravana.  Pooja Hegde was shocked upon hear this from Vikram.

The KGF allies are informed about Ravana's death.  At the same time, Ravana's death reaches Sunil Sharma and Surendra Verma through military spies and they succeed in "Operation KGF." They all feels happy for that.

Harbhajan Singh is informed about the success of Operation KGF and he orders the elimination of other associates in KGF.

"The news of Ravana's death spread in the Ramayana, where his death spread all over the earth. Surana saw the perfect opportunity and planned to enter the KGF."

Kubera is informed of Ravana's death, and feeling elated, looks for an opportunity to seize control of the KGF.  Powerful people come from powerful places.  However unknown to many, one has already infiltrated the KGF and is protecting its people.  They do not realize that without him, they cannot succeed in this mission.  Even after getting a chance to kill Ravana, he did not use it and waited for another chance to kill him.

When Ravana's henchman tries to kill him, Karthik is protected by slaves, who all join hands to finish them off.

PRESENT

"This is just chapter 1. The story has just begun," said Vikram indignantly.

EPILOGUE

The beginning of the story has a loose connection to the film KGF: Chapter 1 with some adaptation from the film in between.  But the rest is my own original opinion for which I did a lot of research in browsers and college library.
