Katy's rise after her fall

There she was, driving down the hill returning from the camp. Katy , the mayor's daughter , a nineteen year old, an athlete. Running was all she ever cared about.

Suddenly black, dark and heavy clouds hovered above her. A zephyr blew with a rustling psithurism as it passed the trees. Icy wind splashed at her face. The brontide made its way. There was a storm brewing. This one didn't feel good , it had an ominous, dark and lusty urge, an urge to ruin, to destroy. The atmosphere grew darker. Tension accompanied. Soon, spasmodic flashes of lightning were followed by torrential rain.

Katy wasn't afraid, she was a courageous person. But then her car toppled. A metal rod pierced through her left leg. She soon blacked out. The next thing she knew was that she had lost her left feet and she went through a surgery. She was in the hospital bed. A boy , Matt , he was from her school, came to her rescue. Katy wasn't mentally fine.

She had lost her dream. The storm snatched her life from her. Katy's mom never really cared about Katy. She visited Katy in the hospital but didn't seem to care. Her dreams were crushed. She was a runner, that's who she was , that's what she did. Running aired out her soul but there she was stuck in the bed knowing she would never run again.

When she glanced at the monstrosity below her knee , goosebumps made their way and a sudden chill ran down her spine. Her lip trembled and her eyes burned as she tried to keep her tears at bay. She missed everything. The early morning run, the ambrosial of spring grass and blooming flowers, the wind slapping her face.

It took Matt full forty five minutes to manoeuvre their way to safety. At least that's what he said. It's not that she wasn't grateful towards Matt, it was just that dying would have been a better option than losing her dream.

Months passed she could walk but slowly. She found that there was a running leg that could be attached to her body. She got a chance to relive her dream. Yes, she was thrilled and delighted but she was feigning a courage she did not feel. Walking with the leg she had now was already hard enough. The running leg would be much more harder.

But she had to fight back reality, didn't she? So she bought it. She bought the running leg. She burned the midnight oil each day. She continuously practised running. A few years passed and there she was, racing on the track, smiling as the wind kissed her cheeks, moving her legs as fast as she could. She had won the gold for the National level with a running leg ! Matt, her recent boyfriend cheered for her.

It was a new start, a new beginning in her life. It wasn't a finish line for her, it was her starting line. She made it!
