His Crush
His Crush
“So what was his reply to your proposal?” Arjun asked Ritu in a not so interested tone.
“He hasn't replied yet but I know it will be positive” A smile adorned Ritu's beautiful face.
Arjun couldn't take his eyes off her but the thought that he was labelled as her best friend, strangled the sparkle in his eyes.
“He told me that we will meet tomorrow. What should I wear?”, Ritu asked in doubt.
“Mm.. That blue top with white flowers and....”
“Wait.... I have never wore it after the first day of our college. Then how did you know?”
“Oh..tha..that..I didn't specifically mentioned. Since blue is your favourite..”
“Wow! You know my favourites! What a memory! So tell me, Mr.Perfect, what was the formula taught in class today?”
“Someone is calling me. Bye.See you later!”
“Tell me how do I look?”, Asked Ritu.
“Youu.. you.. look.. ug.. ly!”, Replied Arjun.
“Haha, thank you, convey this to your eyes. I guess, they have got tired due to the over load you just gave them!” Teased Ritu.
She was right. His eyes were illuminated by her glare, dazzled by her untied silky smooth hair, and benumbed by the way she walked through the staircase, a queen she is!
“How was your meeting with him?”
“Not so good.”
“Why?” Arjun was confused.
“He loves someone else so he friend zoned me.”
“Aww, that was so so goo… I mean.. So bad.”
“That was merely a crush. So it's all right.”
Even in the summer season, rain drops danced in his mind or was it tears of joy? Who knows.
“Ritu, you have got dance practice today for the cultural fest. And don't forget that, as your dance master, I won't tolerate late coming.”
“Oh, look, our master just gave you responsibility for one day and you are not even supporting your best friend.”
In the hall, a group of girls including Ritu were dancing. Arjun was observing them.
“Stop it Ritu. Haven't I told you to learn steps properly? Also tie your hair.”, Arjun shouted.
“Oh..ok..”, Ritu's cheeks were red due to anger as Arjun was constantly scolding her for small mistakes.
“Again..Ritu. Just. Do. It. Properly.”
“You know what, I am not dancing.” Ritu stormed out of the hall in embarrassment.
Her dimples consoled the tears by embracing it. Long hair strands fluttered in air, naughtily.
“Hey stop.”, Arjun rushed behind her.
“What now? You want to scold me more?”
“Idiot, master told me that he is gonna change you as you were bit lazy in practising.”
Ritu was startled as she never expected that.
“I was helping you as I can't let that happen. Everyone should see your dancing, your grace , your rhythm in steps….”
“You would give a tough competition to CCTV.” Chuckled Ritu. “I agree that I wasn't dancing good but what was my hair's fault? You know that I like to leave my hair loose.”
“I know. But because of it, my mind was distracted. That's why.”
“What…”, Ritu asked.
“Leave it. You won't understand.”
“Ok Sahib. Whatever you say I will obey.”
“Hehe…. Ok Sahiba. Shall we practice now?”
“What happened to me? I have never cried when someone scolded me. I have never did so many mistakes while dancing. Whenever I look at him.. It's a new feeling.. Something..different..”
Ritu followed Arjun with a mysterious smile!
