Just a cute story of remembering young love ♡

Pat pulled his car right up to a beautiful view of a serene lake. He plastered a gentle smile on his face as he looked at me. It was our anniversary night, and he drew up a detailed plan of perfection.

He took a bottle of wine and poured it into a pair of glasses. "What does my wife think of her husband's plan?", he asked with that sheepish grin.

"Hmm, could have been a little more extravagant..." I chided him, as his face turned pale. I didn't want to hurt him so I just laughed, letting him know it was fake. "I love it, Pat," I smiled.

"Adale," he started " Do you think, I'm the one you always wanted?"

My blood ran cold. He had to come up with the question now? I tried to brush away his question so I randomly pointed out to other places outside the lake, as if admiring it.

" Ada, I just asked the question out of inquisitiveness. I wouldn't abandon you just because I know that I'm not the only one," Pat reassured me.

There was this boy, in elementary school. He was not always cool, mostly an introvert. Sometimes, we never really knew he existed! I know, that was rude, but that's how he behaved. He never showed up for any cultural or festivities the school held. Heck, we barely even knew his name!

But, one day, we were exposed to his hidden character.

Some big kids started their bully against us. We tried to warn them, but they wouldn't listen. I mean, why would they? They started to threaten us by stealing our phones. We were about to cry! They started to pull my friends' hair. When their hands got closer to me, a puny voice, guessing that someone from our grade, spoke up.

"HEY! LEAVE THEM ALONE!"

" What are you gonna do, squirt? Pinch us to death?" The bullies giggled.

" DON'T MAKE ME DO THAT! I'VE BEEN GOING TO BAKING CLASEES, AND I THINK MY PINCHING SKILLS ARE PRETTY GOOD!" He definitely watched "Sleep over"

"Pff, c'mon, Drake, let's go, we'll get back later," his other friend took him away as he scoffed.

" Dude, that was so brave of you!" Destiny shrieked

"Yeah, it was pretty brave, thanks, actually." I shook his hands gratefully.

" Adale, its 4! We have to go on to our skateboard class!"

"I-I should get going..." I said, thanking him one last time.

 ...

We started to develop a close friendship from that day. He became my best friend. Later, my best interest. He was way different than me, which is why we became the perfect fit of friends. We won several competitions, which made him discover his passion for writing. He was a gift of wonder.

But, when it was time to move from Chicago, we had a hard time bidding a goodbye. It was when we were in sixth grade.

" Text me everyday, yeah?" He asked, trying to control his tears.

"Of course I will, bud! I will text you as soon as I reach San Francisco." I smiled sadly, wiping away his threatening tears.

" Last horn!" The bus conductor reminded us that it was time to move,or it will be late to reach the airport.

...

After that, we couldn't keep in touch for a long time. I maintained contact with him through facebook. His status read that he was married. I moved from San Franscisco to Texas again. There, I met Pat Rollims. I got employed in the same company he worked in. We developed a liking for each other and got married later on.

...

present

"Wow. You have had a long run with this guy. Do you still miss him?"

" As a friend, yes," I answered Pat.

"You have any picture of him?"

"Yes, I have the one that we took from elementary school." I showed the picture of our class to him from facebook.

"Wow," he chuckled " You look just as cute as I remember!"

What did he mean by 'remembered?

"Hey, that's me with that brown, blonde hair!" He pointed a a small smiling boy at the picture.

"That's...you?" I asked.

" Yeah. I remember what an introvert I was! I however had this zeal in writing."

I dropped my wine glass.
