A Drop In The Ocean

A drop of water counts in an ocean. water- a basic necessity of every human or living being. 2/3rd of the human body is just made up of water. and we all know 72% of earth's surface is covered by water out of which only 3% is freshwater & also out of which just 0.03% can be consumed by humans. we just can't survive without water- it's just as important as oxygen is to body. water is used for many purposes- drinking, cleaning, washing clothes & utensils, agriculture, watering the plants, cooking etc etc. people living in desert or dry areas yearn for water. finding enough water can be perceived as magic by them.

I swear you are blessed if you've 24/7 access to clean drinking water at your home. without water, nothing feels good, life feels lifeless, low efficiency at tasks is felt, we just want a drop of water. I live in a building with 24/7 access to water. 1 day suddenly, without us knowing, that day supply of water was stopped. we came to know at night, that government had stopped the water supply in my area & surrounding areas for pipeline repair- yes the main pipeline had burst due to construction work of a nearby building& this had led to the loss of lakhs & lakhs liters of water. those 3 days were tough for us all, tankers weren't available, & if they were at all, then they were unaffordable, I know how boring & disgusting those 3 days were without water. having the habit of 24/7 access to water & suddenly having no water at all was a big big problem. those 3 days I realized the importance of water very well. there were literally conflicts over water in buildings & slums, people fought & hared each other. this is a common reality in many water shortage areas of India. but when everything was back to normal, again the same practice of unnecessarily wasting water began. rich families waste 2 buckets of water each day just to clean their balconies. tell me who cleans a balcony that too every day? imagine those 2 buckets of water could have quenched the thirst of families suffering from water shortage each day.

water purifies your skin, drink water if you feel throat irritation, wash this wash that, & now wash your hands to fight coronavirus- everything of us revolves around water & ends on it. but many researchers say that after some years we all will suffer from water shortage or water will disappear from the earth. so please now is the only time left to conserve water as much as possible. let's stop daily cleaning the balconies, while brushind don't let the tap be on for continuous 3 minutes, use bucket for bathing rather than a shower, use minimum water. the change starts within the home, so let's do it & be a responsible citizen. I think the government must stop water supply at least once a month for 2 days so that people keep realising importance of water time-to-time. just as we need water, plants, animals & birds need it too. But for us, our industrial activities, waste everything gets dumped in water bodies, contaminating them. and this harms the living things & aquatic life. cholera, typhoid, diarrhea are all results of dirty water use. save water, save a life- of yours & your family & country at large!

Lastly be thankful to God for giving you water, the most precious form of life!!
