A Day In His Life....!

He sat on the mat which was carefully laid down by him last night. He did not remember what woke him up, maybe it was the piercing noise his master's huge vehicle made, or the bright sunshine poked a little in his weary eyes! But whatsoever it was, he was wide awake now. He expected a blow from his master for being late. But fortunately, there was no one to scold him. The house was empty! The door was locked and he sat there exactly in a corner in the veranda.

He suddenly came out and searched for everyone- his master, his mistress, and their son. But they were nowhere to be seen. He knew that they must have left the city forever. A few weeks ago, the master was hard hit due to the pandemic situation and they were in distress. Thus, they had chosen to escape from all the mishaps of the city. But, what about him! He moved out of the house, then the area and soon the city too. 

He reached the outskirts of the city and looked everywhere haphazardly. But, at the same time, something caught his attention. There were some boys of his age flying kites. He started recollecting the days back in Sonpur, where he and his friends used to play various games. His father was a drunkard and Amma's death proved to be the most hurtful and depressing phase in his life. He decided to be the master of his own journey and came to the city to earn a living. The circumstances stole away the innocence he had! He worked day and night at his master's house. But, once again in his life, his destiny tried to test him.

When he saw the boys, he forgot everything and approached them in order to be one of their crew. The boys could sense the hardships the newcomer had had in his life. Their acceptance made him feel grateful. He mingled with them, flew vivid kites, and played each and every possible game he could. The flying kites took with them the hopes and spirits of the kids to a level above all. Darkness ruled the sky and the day had come to its end, but what did not end was his hope for the upcoming day.

He was not sure what the next day would bring for him... but his eyes were no wearier, they had a shine to conquer it all!
