The Stubborn Splinter by Sudhakar Sethi
The Stubborn Splinter by Sudhakar Sethi
In twilight's hush,
where shadows softly fall,
A fishbone stuck,
refusing to leave at all.
The cricket's delight
on TV's vibrant screen
Couldn't distract me
from the
fishbone's nagging sheen.
Someone said,
"Drink water, fast and free,"
Someone else suggested,
"Eat rice, and see."
But the fishbone remained,
a stubborn guest,
Causing discomfort and
a troubled, restless nest.
I tried to dislodge it with
a gentle hand,
But it only seemed to go
deeper in the land.
My attempts at removal only
made it worse, I fear,
A painful, aching throat,
and a heart that shed a tear.
I went to the doctor
with a hopeful,
anxious heart,
Who examined me
and played a
gentle, soothing part.
"Don't worry," he said with a
reassuring, kindly smile,
"It's just a minor problem that
will heal in a little while."
But the damage was done,
the fishbone's lingering pain,
Left me with a
sore throat and a
heart that felt in vain.
Yet, in the morning's light,
I felt a newfound peace,
A lesson learned to cherish
each moment and release.
