Return Childhood Back To Child
Return Childhood Back To Child
A child is a child
Childhood is for growing up
With fun and frolic
As serene and calm as sunrise
Full of beauty and natural grace
However, we the parents, guardians
And society at large, including peers
have reduced child to an obedient student
For scoring higher and higher
Like a marking machine
School Bag with Books outweigh him
Learning demands take up all his time
His universe shrinks to the dirty classroom
Among peers of also-ran
It is Midsummer Heat at Sunrise
Freshness subdued, tired expressions of fatigue
And Frustration Writ large all around
Leave the child to lead a natural life
Of a childhood that develops him integrally
Let us not throw the baby to the mark-getter battle
Where for each additional mark
He sacrifices the child in him
Let us not judge children by yardsticks of ours
Let him have his natural pace and flow
Nature is best when it is at its natural best
Education is not all about memorizing
Talent is not a by-product of books and more
Give Childhood back to the child
And let him have his pie of fun and enjoy
Each moment of a most precious part of life
To have the values which make a better man of him.
