An Accidental Poet

Poetic Instincts are not genetic

Nor they evolve with the biological clock

These drop in unannounced and unnoticed

At any phase and any stage in life

 

Lyrics were never my cup of tea

Poems did not run in my scheme

I had only prosaic view

of the world and its issues in and around

 

Life changes

Rhythms of life change

Expressions change

 

There came a moment of reckoning

When the heart got choked with unspoken words

Deep feelings within yearned for an exit

 

And then, the poet within knocked at the door

Words flowed naturally, like

Drops of tear, when in pain

 

It signaled the birth of a poet

Eager to take shelter in beats of lyrics

And blare out what choked the veins
