Reminiscence
Reminiscence
The splashing of the rain, the honking of the nearby vehicles
The voices of the tired passengers and the howling of the wind.
Encircles me
Taking me to those days of our childhood
When the simplitude of life surrounded us,
when life hadn't yet bared its fangs on us,
when we were still unaware, still drunk on those little joys and still ignorant.
Playing behind the mountains in the dirt or hiding in the bushes,
singing to the tunes of the nightingale and climbing those trees.
Those days when everyday was a new experience
Experiences we always remember
These memories have embedded themselves in our heart
Pushing us forward towards the light in the dark
No matter how old we get
No matter how miserable we be
No matter when life decides to abandon us
Now matter when we forfeit
They will always stay
Guiding us through the life midway
The smell of the food
Permeating through the roof
Guided our lost little selves
To those warm comfy rooms
When the nagging of our parents never got through to us
Or the rustling of the trees didn't scare us
When the hush of the dark
Was the company we always had
When those prolong nights never made us sad
Whispering away those little secrets
While lying beneath the trees
Lending our ears no matter how trivial those problems seem
I wish those times could continue forever
Helping us live in the present howsoever
I wonder if we'll ever hear
Those beautiful stories once again
Those stories that lulled us to sleep
Of mysterious beings we'll never meet
Those beings that filled us with wonder
And greeted us with joy in our slumber
But those days are long gone
Leaving us to dwell on the loss
The loss of the warmth that we always had
The loss of the blessings we thought we shared.
The trickling of the rain woke me up
Making me look at the passing streets in turn
Feeling the wind hitting my face
I remembered where i was again.
I am back to the place I'll always be
Where there is no 'we', just 'me'.
