Racist
Racist
l roared like a lion
Inside me raged a fire
Angered at the injustice
smoking my thought
clouding my thinking
I licked my wounds
emotions incandescent
recalling his last words
"I was not good enough
to be his wife, his parents
would surely object"
Why?
Because of my skin colour
ebony dark, negroid features
Why did he lead me down
the garden path, igniting
passions sizzling inside
only to be doused with racial
remarks?
And now he lies inert on
a hospital bed, abandoned,
brain dead, in a freak accident
Knows not that the Black Nurse
he once professed he loved,
administers care to him,
in place of his White wife
long since shacking up
with his best friend, giving
him up as dead.
Her soul enkindled
