Motherly Love
Motherly Love
Mother a friend and protector
One who is soft, gentle, and kind
One you can count on to always be on your side
When I think of you, none of these words come to mind
The facade of beauty is barely skin-deep
Just under the surface
Burn the the secrets you try to keep
You were awful and wretched
Pure evil at best
Now you're old and more hateful
I'll not list the rest
Why God would bless you with children
Only God would understand
He knew how much we would suffer
At the mercy of your cold hand
I almost gave up -stopped caring
I even have a life of my own
Just knowing you are still out there
Gives me the strength to carry on
The word mother brings no sense of peace
The word and its meaning fill me with dread
I want you to know your place in my life
Breathing, or not, to me you're as good as dead.
