Monsters in the Closet

You turned as monsters we are trying to protect ourselves from.

The ones who live in our closet of promises meant to be kept.

You got me so scared of our alarm clocks that I am almost unable to sleep anymore. 

You tortured me with insomnia. 

While the rest of the universe is asleep, my mind is buzzing with every random thought of you.

I overthink and overthink until these thoughts reach a standstill.

Then my overflowing mind shifts to being blank.

And the deafening silence reminds me how alone I am.
