Mom Is The World

The first word that one starts speaking 

The first person that one starts interacting 

Upon birth

Well, maybe much before too, in the womb

When another name of the world is the mom

She gave me the first shelter

First food

First sleep

First smile

First growth

First word

First move

All the first that keeps one alive

Thanks to her I got assimilated

With society at large

I did get a name 

And a recognition

As an individual entity

I started creeping, walking

Faltered and steadied

She was there all the way

In the process of growing each passing day.

Millions of moments, millions of memories 

From a kid to a grown-up guy

In each stage and phase - mom you are there 

Omnipresent -full of eternal grace and bliss

You are the definition of my life

You are the friend, philosopher, and guide of my destiny

I am here, because of you 

Continue to be here, again thanks to you

Millions of words may still be short to describe you

But, today, I will say this much

Happy Mother’s Day 

For all of my days in life which has been possible 

Only because of you
