Just Like That
Just Like That

The clothes-stand, the almirahs quiet
The drawers – all have little stories tucked inside.
With a smile on our face and maybe -
A tear that slips from a lone corner of the eye;
We grow up trying to listen to them –
Or perhaps ignoring them!
My table – I used to sit at it 8 hours straight,
Has gathered dust today.
Its companion the wooden chair, perhaps
Is not even around today!
I opened my windows today …
The trees that used to be there are replaced
By some boring 4 storey façade blocking the sky!
The electric poles have gathered more wires –
Of cable, telephone lines, optical fibers, and what not!
The aim was to bring people close,
The aim was to make relations strong.
However, they only widened the gap,
They only weakened beautiful ties,
They only moved people farther than ever before!
Today we have little red hearts,
That doesn’t skip a beat on seeing our beloved;
Instead, its pulse is determined by a casual double-tap!
