Entertainment Manager
Entertainment Manager
So I died and went to heaven
Because of my saintly deeds
I was promoted to cloud seven
I was greeted at the pearly white gates
With flowers, music and wine
Elated I entered the heavenly estates
My happiness was so profound
As the enormity of realization
Hit me as I entered the cloudy compound
My guide showed me to my elegent home
That would be my eternal abode
A Space full of wonders, my own private zone
Life in heaven started in absolute awe
New experiences everywhere
Such beauty I never saw
I wandered far and wide taking in the sights
Meeting angelic strangers
Accepting their generous invites
I lived this life of a traveller for ages
Never having a moment dull
A life of no worry, no work, no earning wages
After a while everything loses its charm
As excitement became a routine
I was quite alarmed
Returning home I decided to go easy
Put my feet on the table
Read books and just be lazy
The books sustained me for a while
And few decades went by
But boredom crept close, turning me hostile
I turned to meditation to fight against boredom
But deep breathing and chanting didn't help
To maintain my mental decorum
Desperate I reached to the heavenly health line
With my question about
How exactly to spend my eternal time
They calmly heard my detailed plight
Noted down my symptoms
Gave an appointment after a fortnight
The Angelic doctor heard my complaint
Fix my appointment
In the department of Entertainment
My job was suppose to be simple and fun
I had to find avenues of entertainment
For others eternal boredom
This was terrible I thought
How could I help others with their boring lives
When I was myself distraught
Despite my doubts I took up the position
Planned travels for newly dead being
Or parties, gatherings or fun expedition
Having something new to do was pleasing
It gave me some purpose
Made life interesting
A few years in this job and again the complaining started
This time it wasn't just me
But even the other dearly departed
I could take no more complaints of eternal blandness
And approached my Angelic supervisor
She looked at me with with a mischievous smile and eyes of kindness
She said - That's why we make souls Entertainment Managers
When folks realize how difficult it can be
To entertain someone for an eternity
They stop complaining to us about their dull routines
Find their own entertainment means
Since you are now wiser and aware of this reality
I hope to hear no more complaints
Of boredom with your infinite mortality
