“WFH” Woes

 Looking at the mirror she gaped at the vision,

Was she staring at herself or an apparition?

Work -from-home seemed to have caused an irreparable harm,

Double chin and wobbling belly had engulfed her fine form.

 The culprit here was surely the blasted fridge,

Sneakily making its presence felt with its sudden thuds and twitch.

Number crunching at the dining table, it was impossible to resist,

The delicious treats within, if you get the drift!

 No dress code at home added to her woes,

Loose Tshirts and pjyamas had cleverly hidden the accumulating adipose.

Now to her consternation and extreme horror,

She looked like the well-fed sheep before it is led for being slaughtered!

 With the country slowly limping back to normal,

Going to the office was inevitable, and dressed in formals.

Was agonising even to think of; lest if it were to happen,

It would cast the last nail in the coffin in the name of fashion!

 Steps for some drastic action were staring her in the face,

To give up donuts and cakes or join the gym was a million-dollar guess.

Gymming had never been her cup of tea till date,

But that bitter poison had to be drunk if she were to lose some weight.

 It was either the treadmill or losing her treats,

The choice was between the devil and the deep blue sea.

Facing up to the challenge was inherent in her nature,

She promised to herself to do both and not lose this wager.
