Life Is For The Living

Life Is For The Living

Life is for the living.

Yes. Your point?

Only the living can

Experience “Life”

“To live”, “lived”

And “living” are verbs

‘Doing words’

Active words

Life must be a noun

Are you bored yet?

No, I don’t do graphic

Versions. Audiobooks?

Working on it. Watch this space

“Life must be a noun” and potentially

When linked to a word (e.g. “long”)

An adjective: life-long, as in friends

An interest, a love, a hate

Thus, what do we have so far?

A truism, “life is for the living”

A noun, a potential adjective

What is a thing? This phenomenon

We term “Life” It’s not exclusive

It surrounds us; in magnificent colour

And variety. Are we impressed, or amazed?

Yes? No? Maybe? Probably not

We’ve decided that, if there is such a process

As Evolution, we are the apex, the alpha

The top dog!?! If it isn’t about us, our wants

Our (self-defined) needs, it’s of secondary importance

[He’s going to pontificate again!] Is my assessment not true?

Let’s start at the very beginning (a very fine place to start)

1. Life is for the living

To experience life, one must be alive

The dead are very dead

To be alive is a celebration sight, sound

Smells, colour and vibrancy

“Living” is a verb. The close relationship

Of life/living suggests “life” is also a verb

A process, an engagement in a world

Of such vibrancy, opportunity and change

One might say, we have no choice

(that might be a subject of intense debate)

We’re here. What the !!!! What do we do?

You could reasonably ask that as a child

You have a whole life to learn

As an adult, you’ve learnt the steps

Fallen on your face a few times, got up

Dust yourself off, try and try again

You’ve got a whole life to learn

About interacting with others in a socially

Acceptable manner; taking responsibility

Choosing a vocation, taking a vacation

Some days in the sun perhaps; exploring

Your system of moral/ethical values (or not)

Experiencing beauty in all its forms

You have a whole life to learn all this

It will take you whole life, and more

To learn a fraction of it.

Think about it
