Our Proud Cook!

He is a novice in cooking,

Just started a few months back,

Once in a way when he feels like,

Turns out good sometimes, sometimes not!

To keep his morale high,

We just tell him it’s very nice,

Even those days it’s not so nice,

Now the matter has gone overboard!

He says he is the best cook,

I know nothing at all,

He cooks better than our moms,

How dare he says this? After just starting now!

When we three have fed him all our lives,

Both our mothers fed him so well,

All that he liked and wanted they made,

I have given him his three meals every single day without fail!

Sick or fine or busy with school work,

Still every day I saw to it that all three meals are done,

Breakfast, lunch and dinner were always ready,

And that has kept him so fit and fine!

Now all of a sudden, he feels his chicken masala is the best,

His biryani or vegetables are also the very best,

‘This taste I never have eaten before anywhere,

Nor do we get this taste in a five-star hotel,’ he says!

I told him today that gratitude he must have,

For all the other meals he has had in his life,

That his mom and my mom have served him and gone,

I am still cooking and feeding him most of the time!

The food he makes is not healthy at all,

As he uses oil like water and tops it with butter again,

The more we eat like this, not good for our age,

He better returns our dues and swallows his pride without any delay!
