Our Get-Together!

We were in Madurai Medical College for more than five full years 

Learning in classrooms and Erskine Hospital wards as students

We used to meet, study in groups and discuss our mutual interests,

Regularly attending clinics, special lectures and seminars as friends.

 

Boys and girls played sports, games and enjoyed puns all the years

We all had a nice time cracking jokes and showing off all our talents!

Some left in the middle of the course and a few got closer as ‘lovers’

We all left the nest and flew away to settle in different places as adults!

 

We took a lot of years for everybody to work hard in our own speciality, 

Bought a house, married and settled in a place to lead a normal family 

Busy with work, looking after the house and family juggling work and life. 

The time arrived for a break, from the never-ending rush for money or pride.

 

Birds of a feather flock together in a place for a thought-provoking chat,

Get-together arranged as a special event for a reunion of our classmates, 

Meeting them after a long time as contacts are lost due to distance or busy times.

Friends share knowledge and experiences as close friends or roommates. 

 

Meet in a place away from hustle and bustle for a talk to catch up on things, 

Update recent events, enquire about others and try to put the clock back, 

Crack jokes, enjoy the pleasant moments and laugh heartily all together. 

We all had nice food, drink, a wonderful time and enjoyed every minute!

 

It made our hearts light and relaxed our minds and lifted our spirits high up.

We re-collect our college days, we’ve missed our mates and their fellowship

Thinking about college life, our hearts are filled with more memories to store 

Renew our contacts and spent a few days to-gather to renew our friendship?

 

Get-together is the best way to reconnect with friends in a quiet place at times, 

The final day of our meeting was painful we didn’t want to leave the venue till late at night 

Keep on asking for contact details; mail address, phone number and PIN Code 

While leaving the hall, think about planning to meet again, hopefully soon!!
