Importance of Lies

If everyone answered with a truth

To a simple question how do I look?

Many relations would just die

That's the importance of a lie

When someone asks how are you doing?

We usually say we are fine 

Do people really need to hear us griping?

No, so the innocent little fibbing

When a child asks a parent, you like my drawing?

And It's really not very good

Should the parent tell its not nice

Or resort to innocent lies?

At sophisticated dinner parties

You hear someone brag too loud

To speak your mind would be uncouth

So you need some silence and untruth 

All those places of worship

Giving hope of eternal afterlife

People attending with reverence and benediction

Faith and Hope based on eons of fiction

We have created so many stories

Stories that we have to uphold

Money, economy, God, relations are our pith

All are essential part of the myth

When life goes spiraling out of control

When nothing seems alright

We lie everything's for the best and all will be well

We don't give up hope, we defy

That is what makes us push forward

That's the importance of a lie.
