Words
Words
I once pondered my eyes across a little church
Dusted, abandoned, no one at the curb
I lingered there and peered through the broken windows
There sat, knees bent and hands clasped, 4 souls
One, covered with the best silk you could find,
The second looked like he hardly made a dime
The third, someone who could think of no crime
And the fourth, with all the knowledge in her mind
"I live the best off the best, but receive no respect"
"I have 2 beautiful girls, but nothing to kill their thirst"
"I commit no crime, yet nothing makes me smile"
"I hold the power in my mind, but no one lets me shine"
As the four souls poured out their lives
The bell above started to chime
The holy father chanted the most melodious rhyme
"Oh God, enlighten my mind with truth;
In
flame my heart with love;
Inspire my will with courage;
Enrich my life with service.
Pardon what I have been;
Sanctity what I am; order what I shall be
And thine shall be the glory
And mine the eternal salvation
Through Jesus Christ My Lord
Amen."
We are unbeknownst of each other
But we understood the words upon us
Not a thought ever pondered
Someone unlocked our cages and set us free
Farewell misery
Silence fell like a leaf on water
You could only hear the hearts of the worshippers
The warm, soft air breathed by all of us
And at that moment
We FELT a prayer.
Note : the prayer in this poem is not my own, I have taken it off a website of a catholic church. This was done to prevent offense to any religion or culture.
