Courage
Courage
Lost in thought when the tears drop hard,
The most loneliest of words; now shards.
The time comes when your mind is no fun,
And peace comes from the barrel of a gun.
No smile to remember, only pain within,
No queen to surrender, life running thin.
Memories often flash before my eyes,
Times gone past, good and bad, truth and lies.
Feeling exhausted is a habit now,
Trapped in this place, I know not how.
All I see is broken ships; lost to the sea,
Crashed on a beach; they erode, they be.
No salvation, no concern; just fear be felt,
Demons with cards; they need to be dealt.
When I'm lost in my very own mind,
And I just can't leave the voices behind.
I'll keep your face right in my heart,
Then our courage and I will never part.
