Brother's Wail
Brother's Wail

We grew up together, same home and hearth
He was my idol and me, his freshening breath.
We joked, played and our bounty of pranks,
Our hearts buried them deep
Yet we were frank
To give our opinions and allay our fears
When we the two of us were to each other near.
That one fateful day, bruised and wounded as i lay
Hit by a car, while negotiating a curve.
When my eyes saw light once more
On the hospital bed, I lay
My brother, strong and powerful
Like a baby wailed
Holding my hand close to his heart.
Why I was not there to shield you and push you away
Out of the monsters way.
Nothing could change for me as my leg was gone
But i found a new bond
Stronger and strengthened
Till our last day.
