Mortgaged Memories
Mortgaged Memories

As you leave today, circumferences of these archways.
To a new world with new people, to a new family and new ways ;
I gather the blossoms of memories of our youthful days
And childhood play.
Huge void shall forever weigh, though I'm happy
For your new innings of martial Mays.
Still, the study shall remind of the days
You doing my homework and I sneaked to play.
Me getting you tamarind pods while neighbours were away.
All these years my wet towel on the bed stayed
You chasing me with pepper spray.
While doing chores you feigning a fall,
as I ate without washing
or on the wet floor walked tall
shrieking for Mother's attention to sway
Over my bones ,
till Kingdom of Granny shielded the spray.
Father's scolding's you deftly belay
Likes of undercover agent my sister dearest,
This and much more shall aweigh,
Each moment and each day for the summers to come this gateway.
I plead to you, do come for Rakhi sister dear
You will always find me waiting with my arms splay
Over the rills and brae.
