This is a story of many moons ago,

When German people’s ego was delivered a huge blow!

Losing World War I to the Allies was a massive setback,

And made to sign the ‘War Guilt Clause’ was the last straw on the camel’s back!

By signing the Armistice Treaty in 1918,

Germany was in effect, sidelined by the European mainstream.

Ravaged by the war and nursing dented pride,

They needed a hero to avenge their slide!

Adolf Hitler, a corporal in the war just concluded,

Seized his chance and on his strategy brooded.

Resentment on their loss and economic woes helped him to play dirty,

With cunning and scheming, he declared himself the leader of ‘Nazi Party’.

To regain their lands, Hitler attacked Poland,

Visions of grandeur had his ........stolen.

It was Hitler’s belief that he would rule the world,

With that end in sight, he did his plan unfurl.

Poland, Denmark, and Czechoslovakia was a cakewalk;

All the French could do, as he entered the country was to stand on the streets and gawk.

Battle of Britain was his first roadblock,

And Battle of Stalingrad

sealed his eastwards walk!

Things didn’t go according to his plan,

His ambition to be a world leader, he had to can!

Germany suffered a second defeat,

And had to face another ignominy and beat a retreat.

Hitler’s fall is a lesson in humility,

Beliefs and hallucinations can be so self-defeating.

It’s in our favor to always remain grounded,

Then have our credibility forever impounded.
