An Apology To Life

An Apology To Life

I think I owe you an apology,

For all the grief and dismay I’ve given you.

For when the sun rose in the morning,

To when the moon dimmed the lights at night,

You were there to take care of me.

I was your bundle of joy that was blessed upon this earth,

So giddy to play and laugh on the playground,

To play pretend in between the bushes and flowers.

So what happened?

When did the light in my eyes become dark?

Become ignorant of the colorful leaves in fall,

Or the warmth of the sun in the month of May,

Even the freezing cold of winter.

O life! Why didn’t you tell me?

How beautiful this little word was,

How amazing it was to breathe with every passing second,

To look up into the sky and see shades of pink and yellow.

I did not realize how much you cared for me,

For every seed planted on this earth.

Life...I’m sorry.
