Value paid for patriotism.

There were two daughters in a middleclass family in southern state of free India. Their parent was happy with them. They paid full attention to take proper care of their kids. Their kids were nourished adequately so that they can struggle on their own feet in their life They were taught good culture, high thinking and good behavior, etiquettes to upgrade them for achieving high benchmark in their life. Their elder daughter was doctor who was commissioned as second lieutenant in army. She had first sight love in her school time who was her relative from very good family. There was good healthy relationship between two families. The boy was very intelligent, alert and handsome. He was also doctor by profession in some government institution. His family was awaiting the same girl as their daughter-in -law. Both families wanted the deep, dense relation between them through this relation. The girl was very ambitious from the childhood. She was impressed by the Indian army time to time by unbelievable miracles by them. So, she was fond of army culture. She therefore decided to join  army after her education. She disclosed this fact to her boyfriend many times while their formal talking. Though she was making him alert about her desire, But the boy took it with pinch of salt. No sooner had she completed her education than she joined in army. Love is in the eye of beholder. She told her boyfriend that she would enjoy the army life for few years. Later she would come back in civil life. But her boyfriend didn’t agree with her proposal. He thought that she wouldn’t come back in civil life again. Though he loved her, but he thought that she wouldn’t be right choice for him as life partner. The bird in hand is worth two birds in bush. So, her boyfriend got married with another lady doctor at drop of hat. The newly married couple was happy in their profession as well as in family life.

But she was shocked by the decision of her childhood boyfriend as she saw the dreams of her married life with him only. Both families already completed some pre-marriage custom of their community in anticipation of their marriage in the past. No sooner did this agreement broke than she went in depression for some time of her life. She decided to come out of the depression with decision that she would never marry with any male in her life. She wanted to remain bachelor in her life and only to serve for Indian army. Where there is will, there is way. Many army officers tried to melt the ice so that they would get married with her. But they failed in their mission. Though these attempted officers did very unbelievable task in their career, but they couldn’t be successful in their mission. She served so many great worriers for longer period who were wounded very worstly in the mission. All of them were under her supervision during the medical treatment till their recovery from injury. She was well known for her excellent and extraordinary services in the army.

After completion of her tenure at remote places as per norms in the Army. She was posted in civil area on promotion in defense colony as per her choice city. There were many civil units attached with defense sector in civilian area. Those officers who had completed their remote posting tenure were generally posted there till their cooling period. she was the boss of defense wings in the civil wings at place of posting. Fortunately, the chief of N.C.C. wing was transferred from that place to another remote place after completion of civil period. So, she got the additional charge of the same unit. But she wasn’t be happy with defense personnel working under her. She was allotted very big quarter as per entitlement in the defense colony which was in the deep remote place. She wanted to enjoy the civilian real life. So, she was searching the feasibility of any quarter for her in local N.C.C wing where some civilians were working which was the staff of state government under defense.

There was very handsome man working in that office who was civilian. She was familiar with him when she was there during her probation period after joining the job. He helped her during her probation period in many ways. He would take her to the local civil hospital for attending the patients as per allotted scheduled on his vehicle. Daily local market requirements as per her needs. when she came back to the same place, she was very happy to see him again.

She wanted some civilian quarters for her in that camp which were already occupied by residential doctors. But as per office record, all civilian quarters were allotted to respective residential doctors. There were many defense quarters which were allotted to some army officers who were staying alone. Hence there was no suitable quarter for her. So, she was very disappointed. Where there will, there is way. The same handsome man suggested some trick to her. He told her that some doctors had already allotted the quarters but they were staying outside colony for their own interest and convenience. He assured her that he would talk with some known doctors for giving their quarters unofficially on rent. She saw him eye to eye. Sweet words would unlock the iron door. So, he talked with one of the doctors that he should permit the officer in his quarter till her tenure. Give and take is the best policy. He agreed on the basis that he would get military wine regularly each month from her quota and pay the rent of the quarter. So, he asked her lady boss to hand over her permit card to him. He would receive the wine quota from defense canteen every month on the behalf her and he would give to the doctor. She gave her consent.

Her parent made sincere attempt to get married their younger daughter as the eldest daughter decided to remain unmarried in her life. Many proposals came for their junior daughter, but they would drop the proposal as her elder sister was unmarried. Once beaten twice shy. They thought that some genuine problem might be with family which wasn’t disclosed to them. The worst unbearable pain and experience created unrest to her younger sister. She also jumped bandwagon to elder sister. Both the unmarried sisters would stay together as their parent kick the bucket. They left this world unhappily leaving their lovely kids alone. Though she dreamed to serve for defense as well as civilian life together, But she failed to do so in her life. Both the sisters paid the value for patriotism by remaining not only unmarried but also unloved in their life. They loved the country lot, but nobody loved them. It was true that they were in the civil society, but they weren’t be the active part of it. In fact, they wanted to enjoy their childhood civilian life as in the past with their parent. Of course, it was the biggest tragedy with the suffered family which wasn’t at all noticed by the civilians.
