Remainder

          There were three friends. Two of them were from childhood and living  just at hair’s  breadth in the same sub-town. A third friend joined them  during schooling. He would stay at quite long distance from them, but they would meet to-gather on the way while going to school daily. All of them picked up their separate line for making their career after graduation. They were working in different government offices in different departments and were posted at different places. Just before their retirements, all of them settled in the same big city. They would meet on many occasions either casually or intentionally. Sometimes they would meet to make fun on any Sunday. Their families would meet with each other on any family functions when one of them would be the host. There was little bonding among their wives as compared to their friendship. As they were totally free after their retirement, they would go on picnic for their enjoyment at different places and on most of the occasions to their common native place. Then they would enjoy there with their school friends who made their birthplace as their workplace. Absences make the heart grow fonder. Their school friends had the same affinity towards their city friends. It was routine practice of those friends. They were enjoying their retirement life in this manner. 

         Their wives had a common complaint against those friends whenever they would meet in some family function. They had expressed their doubts many times about their ill practice while touring. They might express these doubts for teasing them with fun. So, they decided to arrange a few days picnic with their wives in some remote resort in the nearest project tiger. They booked resort for them. Three families went to-gather for picnic at scheduled place. Everybody had diffidence of their wives. They were worried that their wives could exchange some secrets of their husbands. Stich in time saves nine. They firmly decided not to unfold any top secrets among them by just unnecessarily commenting on any loose talk while exchanging their views while talking. These families mixed with each other as such it was more than their expectations. They were very happy as well as glad as they were enjoying more than they would enjoy while going together without their families. It was memorable event for all the friends.

                  On a day, they were talking while taking lunch to gather as usual. One of the friends was flattering some eating items. It was also supported by their wives. Wife of one of the friends moved from the dining table to bring that item for her. Her husband asked her to bring one extra plate for him. He called her by her name. No sooner had his childhood friend heard the name than he surprised. He looked his friend with wonder. It was a well-known name which he used to hear from his childhood in his house, His friend recognized his intension and asked him to accept the truth by winking. But he was eager to know the real truth behind it. when she came back with that dish and occupied her chair. He praised that dish again. He said that the dish was as tasty and sweety as the name of our sister in-law. She was very happy that her name was so beautiful which was kept by her husband after their marriage. She replied that her husband kept her name after marriage. She didn’t know the secret behind it. He looked at his friend again sympathetically. He saw him eye to eye for the diction of his wife’s name. when his friend observed her very keenly, he noticed that she resembled his sister. Her appearance might be one of the reasons to accept her as his life partner.

                  There was the worst tragedy behind that name. His friend re-called the past worst memories of their life. His friend had two elder sisters and the eldest brother. His father was government servant who was very good player of football. He had very good height with handsome personality. But he had a tuberculosis just before retirement. It was a very panic disease at that time. He was admitted to district TB hospital for long treatment. So, they were only two sisters and his eldest brother in the home. There was a fast friend of the eldest brother. He would come to him frequently who was disliked by his father. He warned his son to break the friendship with him. But he couldn’t do so. Though his friend noticed that his father didn’t like him, but he would come to him. Rest of the members family liked him as he belonged their community. His father thought about him as wolf in the sheep’s clothing. 

                  His eldest brother’s friend helped them during his father’s illness. He had first site love with the youngest sister. His sister also equally responded him. His father’s prolonged sickness gave an opportunity to them to come very close to each other. His mother used to stay with his father for taking care in the hospital. He would come frequently to his home for making aid. During his father’s illness his friend behaved as if he was also the important element of family. Leopard never changes its spot. Since his father’s treatment continued for many months. They were fallen in love with each other as both were in the same boat. But they made a blunder by making body relation during that period. Her sister wasn’t aware of the result. When his father came back to home, he was quite okey than earlier. He was improving his health with time. but his daughter was pregnant. It was noticed by her mother. Her mother was worried too much. But her daughter had a faith in her lover. She thought that he would marry with her. But there were two more unmarried members in the family before her. When twig grows hard, it’s difficult to twist it. It was neither possible for her abortion nor her marriage before the seniors. His father was very angry, strict and disciplined man. His wife was afraid of his terror. She couldn’t tell him the bad things happened with their daughter. 

                   She dared to tell the truth on a day. When this matter was briefed to her father, he went down flames and became extremely violent and lost his control. The boy was ready to marry with her. But he wasn’t doing anything for his bread and butter. He was dependent on his father. The violent father didn’t agree  with the proposal. He was adamant not to accept him as his son-in-law whom he disliked since beginning. She had to lose her life by the atrocities of her father. She had to pay the value for her blunder by committing suicide. His friend lost his beloved sister forever. He loved her too much. it was the secret between two childhood friends which was unknown to others. On her memory, his friend kept name of his wife so that his sister would remain alive till his last breath. Though his beloved sister wasn’t with him bodily, but her sentiment and emotions still kept alive by calling his wife by her name.
