But resources for existence of family was limited. Even though the family was big with limited resources, there was arrival of girl in the family which brought very joy, excitement and entertainment in the family. Her name was Padama. Each member of family was very happy. All brothers would care of their sister from childhood. She wasn’t burden for a family. All her brothers were doing some job as per their qualification and capacity. Their parents got them married one by one. They had their own children. Time and tide wait for no man. Her mother was expired just after few years of Padama’s birth due to prolong diseases. Her husband spent his wealth on her treatment. Her father also retired from the job. He was helping the family with his limited resources. But he couldn’t save any money for the marriage of his beloved daughter. Unfortunately, her father also kicked the bucket when she was very small. Since she was youngest and her parent was no more in this world. Whole family took care of her. She would go to school. She passed the tenth board examination. But family wasn’t in position to continue her education. She attended the age of marriage. But family wasn’t in a position to get her marry with suitable choice. Unfortunately, the proposal came for her marriage from a very small town. The boy wasn’t as cleaver, as girl. hence, he did his education in industrial training institute as fitter. His father was draftsman in a cotton mill. His father made effort for getting job for his son as fitter. The bridegroom family gave their consent for the marriage as the girl was very beautiful and educated. Though they didn’t keep any specific demand for the marriage, but they were expecting from them. The poor family couldn’t provide satisfactory services to bridegroom family and their relatives in the marriage. They got angry with bride family. The bride was knowing the worst situation of her family. Though the bridegroom family was humiliating the new bride and her family, but she would humbly ignore it. if you keep patient in the moment of anger, you will escape hundred days sorrow. Once she came to her father-in-law house, she never back to her home. Nobody took care of her from her family. The members of the family were dominating her. Though she was expecting favor from Her husband, but he wasn’t in favor of her. Grief divided is made lighter. She was very unlucky in this matter. She was alone in the family. she would work as maidservant in the family. The family was miser from the beginning. They weren’t pay any amount for any services in the home. Looking at her, nobody would think that she was a daughter-in-law of the family. The colony people had a pity on her. She would do all work of home as family would lay load on willing horse. There were  atrocities on her frequently. But she would bear it as she was helpless. Her husband wouldn’t take care of her. He would play major role in doing atrocities. Many time she was injured badly and colony people would admit her in a hospital. Good days come to those who wait. She was blessed with son and two daughters. Meanwhile the younger brother of her husband attended the age of marriage. He wasn’t dull like his elder brother. But he couldn’t complete his graduation. So, his father purchased some land after his retirement. The whole family was doing farming. Her husband would only earn some fixed payment. Parent got their younger son married. His wife was as cleaver as her husband. She soon judged the atmosphere of family. She would rule over the family. There was dominance of younger brother’s family over the joint family. He would manage all financial business of the family. His elder brother and his wife would only earn and work for the family. The frequency of atrocities on Padam was slightly less as compared in the past as her kids were grownup. But the there was no change in attitude of family about her. Her status in the family wasn’t less than maidservant. She was never respected as elder daughter-in -law of the family.

Her youngest daughter was very strong by health and naughty. She would rule over all the children of the colony and some unhealthy seniors. She was known as very naughty girl in the colony. There was always lot of complaints against her either from colony families or from school. She was punished many times by her family members. But there was no change in her activities. She wouldn’t care how to tease elders in the colony. But she was very open, frank and jolly by nature. She wouldn’t get angry with anybody. She adopted the forget and forgive policy. If any elder from the colony punished her for any reason, she wouldn’t mind it. She would smile at him next time. This was the reason why all colony people as well as teachers admired her. There was inspection team from the district education office for the inspection of status of health of primary pupils in the district. They visited all most all school in the district. They selected the group of healthy students in the district. Padama’s youngest daughter’s name was Rina. She was one of the healthy students in the selected team. So, district education officer wanted to felicitate the children as well as their parents for good caring of their children. Some official formalities were likely to be completed by school by filling the received format. So, school authority sent the peon to the house of the Rina carrying message. No sooner had the peon arrived at the home than the members of family thought that Rina made some blunder in the class. Nobody was ready to go into school. Her mother would remain in a maidservant condition. No sooner did she see the peon and nobody dare to go with him than she went with him in the same condition. The peon introduced Padam to head mistress. The moment she looked at her, she took it granted that Rina’s mother was illiterate. She didn’t care her. She sat in her seat and making entries in the form. Padama was looking all her activities just standing in front of her. After filling up form, she asked her to put her thump on a cross mark. Every cloud has silver lining. As soon as she asked to Padam to put her thump, she asked headmistress for pen. She thought that she could do only signature like another uneducated lady. When she provided her pen. she read the whole format and make correction at many places. Before putting her signature in English, she wrote some remarks in the provided column. Headmistress surprised looking at her. She immediately asked her to occupy the seat. She soundly realized that clothes don’t make the man and appearances are deceptive. Since her husband was not educated like her. He had an inferiority complex about her. So, he never respected her and paid weightage to her thoughts. His inferiority complex, miser tendency of family spoiled her life. She was completely isolated from the parent family as well as deprived and suppressed from her father-in-law family. She made several genuine efforts to win the hearts of family, but she soon realized when twig grows hard, it is hard to twist it. Though her daughter got the first award for healthy child, but she totally missed the healthy, joyful and cooperative atmosphere in her life.
