Unjustly

Kartik was quite disturbed.

He could not sleep properly.

That incident changed his life completely.

He was afraid.

He was angry.

His heart was heavy with guilt.

But he could not do anything about it.

He had tried phoning the police.

But it fell on deaf ears.

He knew the boy who was killed.

Murdered.

The deceased boy was not a friend just an acquaintance.

Yet his death had shaken Kartik completely.

Five years had passed since he had witnessed that gruesome murder.

The culprits were never punished.

Kartik too had lost all hope.

But these nightmares won't let him be at peace.

Dr Shantanu was a new psychiatrist he had become quite famous as a new doctor.

Everyone used to praise and like him.

He had a keen eye and a friendly approach.

Kartik fixed an appointment with him.

In a few sittings with the doc.

He felt easy and better.

Shantanu told him that there was something he was holding for many years.

Maybe he should share it with him.

He promised that it will always remain between us. He said the patient sessions are totally confidential.

Kartik trusted his doc.

He related the whole incident he had witnessed five years ago.

He said he tried to inform the police but nothing helped.

After hearing the whole matter. Doctor Shantanu was shocked.

He felt sad for the boy who was drowned by two other older boys.

But he said that Kartik should not feel guilty over the incident.

As he did what he could.

Days passed one day Kartik visited the village and met the family of the deceased boy.

After her son's death, her mother had become totally quiet she no longer talked or laughed.

He felt very sorry.

He offered monetary help which they did not accept.

But he learnt that the boys who were involved too met a bad fate.

After an accident one died and the other was crippled.

Karma had taken its toll.

With a heavy heart, I returned.
