When the world was struck by it, I mean the Corona virus my world had been quite different.

I was teaching, I had a circle of friends, colleagues and most important my dear little students.

But as the news kept pouring from all around the world that how the virus was spreading its vicious claws faster than we could ever imagine.

Schools were shut. News of deaths and illness filled the newspapers etc. People panicked. Governments all over the world were shocked and tried hard to control . Masks, sanitizers, isolation and every harsh step was being taken to curb it.

Alas even then lakhs of precious lives were lost everywhere near and far.

I lost my job.

I really enjoyed teaching.

It was as if we were imprisoned for almost two years.

Although I was in my home it was very difficult. We could not go out. No malls no shopping no restaurants no outings no newspapers. We had to ask our maid and other household helpers to discontinue until the peak period was over.

Everyone was scared.

No one could tell how long this infection would last.

We could hear stories of our neighbours and other friends and relatives being hospitalized on daily basis.

We knew the hospitals were overburdened and were not having enough beds due to sudden explosion of this epidemic.

The whole atmosphere was filled with uncertainty and fear.

Thankfully in the first wave children below the age of twelve were not infected, it was a huge relief for a parent like me.

I lost one of my favourite teachers in this pandemic.

And few of my neighbours too.

Everytime it was painful to learn that the epidemic snatched away young and old alike.

Young fathers, newly wed couples, my distant relatives many of them lost their lives.

As if each day seemed darker than before.

Thankfully after a few months vaccination drive started. A ray of hope was discovered. And we had a chance now to fight back this deadly disease.

Covid brought with it a lot of painful memories yet the resilient human spirit yet again stood tall.
