"Zoommmmmm. . . "the paper aeroplane floated across the room. Kabir was delighted that he was finally able to craft out a paper aeroplane. He flew the aeroplane again and again, the speedy wind of the fan blew the paper aeroplane here and there and finally it took a straight lift towards the blades of the fan and bang. . . . . . it fell towards the floor, slowly , whirling. . . . with a long tear at the edge it fell at the feet of Kabir. A big drop of tear wet the paper aeroplane. . . . it was destroyed, it was broken or rather torn.

He went to the counter where his mother was topping up the cup cakes with fresh cream. His sad face and the torn aeroplane related her the story.

Kabir was one year old when he lost his father. He worked for the army of the country and was martyred in a war. Its been 4 years since then his mother had been Kabir's whole world. All his wishes, tantrums were fulfilled through his "Maa". She was both a father and a mother for Kabir. It had been perilous for Kabir's mother to bring her child up after her husband's death. Her only passion could help her earn her a living-baking.

With big teary eyes Kabir leaned over the kitchen counter, where his maa was working on the cakes. He struggled on his both toes to reach out to the counter level which was higher than his heights with the torn aeroplane in one hand and trying to grip his balance on the counter with his other hand.

"Maa. . . . "he looked at his mother tears fell off his big round eyes.

Kabir's mother smiled at her child took out a sticking plaster and pasted on the torn edge of the aeroplane and asked Kabir to fly.

It didn't go well, she motivated her son to try again. . . . it didn't work again, a third trail and the plane flew a little higher and landed on Kabir's study table. The joy knew no bound, his eyes danced along with his legs. . . . he was able to fly the aeroplane. . .

Days went by, Kabir grew up. . . one day he got homework from school. He asked his mother"Maa why do we dream? Does the dreams comes true?"

The teacher had asked the students in Kabir's class to write an essay on Dreams.

His mother was baking a tray of muffins, she had huge delivery to make the next day, she smiled and said

"Remember, in whatever you do, "it's okay to dream, " for dreams do come true. . . "

"Then will I become a pilot? I always dream about flying aeroplanes "Kabir asked looking at the rack which had a toy aeroplane kept on it , this was a gift from his mother on his 7th birthday. "Why not, if you dream do not stop dreaming about it pursue your dreams, rest maa is there with you always "Kabir's mother pampered her child.

Kabir took those words in heart. He wanted to fulfill his dream of becoming a Pilot. He engrossed himself in study. He grew up and started helping his mother, she was growing old and weak. Her feeble hands would hardly baked cakes. Constant work for her son to raise him up took her strength away, more over she had no support.

Kabir was obedient and not like the boys of his age. He would go to the college in the morning, come back, helped his mother and study late in the night. His academics scores were great and he had great scope for future, but to study higher he needed more money. . . . . .

He knew well how his mother had worked through rough times, how they have gone through the crest and trough of the life.

But he never stopped pursuing his dream.

He earned a scholar ship for further studies and ran to his mother's bakery to break out the good news to her, but when he saw his mother working in the kitchen with shivering hands, it stopped him to think. His mother was a widow at an early age, she had to take care of her son, she ran the bakery, worked at home, looked after Kabir, fulfilled all his wishes. She had always been beside her son. Now that she needs her son beside her Kabir cannot be selfish enough to leave her alone and pursue his dream. . . . . he folded the scholarship letter placed it inside his book and went to help his mother.

But this made Kabir struggle more inside his heart. He had been dreaming of becoming a pilot but how can he deny his duty as a son?

While thinking so he was decorating the cake, he learnt these from his maa, when he heard a loud thud. . . . . . He sensed the noise came from behind him, he quickly looked behind. . . . . Kabir saw his maa had fallen down on the floor and was senseless.

The doctor had already informed that his mother had been battling cancer for quite some time now. The news was a shoçk to Kabir. After he saw his mother fallen on the floor he had called for the ambulance, admitted his maa to the hospital and now doctor was giving this news!

Silently Kabir went to his mother, a big drop of tear fell from his big round eyes on his mother's hand. . . . . the world seemed to be swirling around him. . . . . just then his mother regained her senses. She knew what her son was going through. . . with broken words she just uttered. . . . . "Follow your dreams your maa is beside you always. . "

Kabir's mother was discharged on the condition that she would not work too much or do any heavy chores.

After his mom fell asleep. . . . Kabir went to his room and sat at his study table. Nothing worked in his head. How would he arrange the money for his mother's treatment, without maa the bakery won't run as well, with all the thoughts he turned the pages of the book which lay on the table, when he saw his scholarship letter. . . . . and a paper aeroplane. . . . . the same aeroplane. . . which he first made and was torn and his maa repaired it. . . . . . in the wings were written"Follow your dreams. . . "His mother was aware of the scholarship program!

Kabir decided to take up the program and help the livelihood and the treatment expenses too, for he would run the bakery, he would look after maa and would also pursue his dreams.

As decide he did accordingly. . . he worked day and night in the bakery, took care of his mother and studied for his dreams to be fulfilled.

Days went by, Kabir's mother's health deteriorated she was admitted to hospital once again and doctor had no hopes.

But Kabir had, he still had in his memory all the words which his mother spoke

"Remember, in whatever you do, "it's okay to dream, " for dreams do come true. . "

The day came for his results of the Aviation entrance tests. Early that morning Kabir had been impatiently waiting for the letter. When the door bell rang, a post man stood outside the door to deliver a letter, with curiosity & anxiousness he opened the letter. . . . . Kabir was selected, he had cracked the exam. His joy knew no bound.

When Kabir's mother received the news tears rolled her eyes. . . no not of sadness but happiness.

Kabir was dressed in his formal attire. That day was his first day of the training. He went to his mother's room who was discharged from the hospital.....

His maa would be so happy to see her son in such attire.

He galloped to his mother's room to surprise her. . . . . . but she was silent. . . sleeping in a deep sleep. . . . he body was white and cold. . . . . .

An aeroplane fell from the table beside the bed. . . . . an aeroplane with a torn edge and a sticking plaster. . . . which read,

"Follow your Dreams

Remember, in whatever you do, "it's okay to dream, " for dreams do come true. . "
