Thicker Than Blood

There was a sense of excitement in the air, after all it was the most awaited night of the year, "The Bootha Puja". Youngsters were engaged in their games, while the women folk made preparations for the chicken that would be sacrificed. 

In the middle of all the humdrum something seemed amiss. Reshna saw her cousin crouched crying in the kitchen with the elder women fussing over her. Her innocent mind couldn't comprehended what transpired that night in the dim lit kitchen.

Years later Reshma heard about her cousin who carried her own bother's child for 4 months and it all came back to her.
