The troubles of Kent Primary-2

Read part 1 of this story (The troubles of Kent Primary, written by me) to understand this story better.

I shook my head and ran out, into my room, and started packing my suitcase. I have had enough. I’m leaving.

‘WAIT!’ Agatha said. ‘You can’t run away!’

Flashback:

‘You promise me that you will never run away from a problem.’

‘I promise, Dad.’

Present:

‘I…. I think…….’ I muttered.

‘That jerk, Leo!’ Agatha said. ‘We are gonna take revenge.’

‘Revenge?’ I gave her a quizzical look. ‘How?’

‘Tear up his football uniform.’

My mouth dropped open. ‘WHAT!!?’

‘We are doing it.’ She said firmly. ‘Anyone who troubles MY friend gets into trouble. I will need you, of course.’

I smiled. She took out a scissor from her drawer, and we tiptoed in the boy’s dorm.

We crept into Leo’s room. He wasn’t there. I closed the door behind me. Agatha opened his closet.

‘Got it!’ She said excitedly.

I stared around nervously.

‘I am going to cut small holes,’ She said, as she started snipping. ‘That would teach him.’

‘Are you sure about this?’ I said.

She shot me a look. ‘Come on…..’

She stopped. ‘Can you hear that?’

Yes. I could hear Leo’s voice. He was coming!

‘He is outside the room!’ I said in a panicked voice, lowering it to a whisper.

‘Don’t panic!’ Agatha hissed. ‘I am hiding behind the closet. You talk to him and distract him!’

I gulped. I knew how to distract him. But I was scared. I got up and straightened my dress, trying to act casual.

Leo was surprised to see me.

‘Sorry, I entered without permission,’ I said in my sweetest voice, ‘but we need to talk.’

He nodded. ‘I wanted to say that…… I am sorry about the football fiasco……. I thought you knew the rules……..’

‘Yeah, it is my…………’ I craned my neck to see what Agatha was doing. She showed me her 2 fingers- 2 minutes, I suppose.

‘What are you looking at?’ Leo said.

‘Uh, nothing!’ I said and tugged his hand to stop him from looking back.

'I wanted to apologize.' I said. 'I am sorry.'

'I didn't think you will forgive me so easily.' He did not look convinced.

'I just don't want to lose a good friend like you.' I said. I flung my hands around his neck and hugged him. That was the only thing I could think of doing. I could also see clearly what Agatha was doing. She showed me a thumbs up and slipped out of the room.

After Agatha was gone, I quickly took off. I didn't want to give Leo the impression that I like him.

'Bye.' I said. He didn't say anything. He was too stunned. Well, that's the magic a girl can do!

I hurried into my room. Agatha was rolling on her bed, laughing hysterically. I frowned. 'It wasn't funny!'

'It was.' She said.

I rolled my eyes playfully and climbed into my bed.

'Let's see what happens tomorrow.' Agatha said, yawning. 'Good night.'

*Next day*

The next day, I and Agatha woke up pretty early. We dressed and went out, in the corridors. It was time for football practice. Then, we spotted Leo- he had worn his torn uniform!

Every girl gawped at him. Soon, we were all giggling. 

'Sir, I don't know how this happened!' Leo said. His face was red with humiliation. 

'Were there mice in your closet, Leo?' One of the boys teased, and everyone roared with laughter.

Leo glanced at me, and I lowered my gaze. Somehow, I felt bad. Was Leo worth revenge? I don't know.

'Did you do this?' Brittany hissed. 'To pay him back for the football thing?'

I rolled my eyes.

'It's more entertaining than football, anyways.' She said, laughing.

I and Agatha went to the cafeteria after that. 

'I feel kinda bad.' I confessed.

'Come on.' Agatha said. 'He didn't feel bad when he tricked you without telling you the rule.'

'About that,' I said, 'I am doing a petition. There shouldn't be this girls rule. It's unfair.'

She nodded. 'I agree. I am there with you.'

*The next day*

Author POV

Many girls were signing up for Kate's petition. She was glad! Everyone except the Queen Bees, of course.

Kate was surprised when she saw Leo approaching.

'Hi.' He said. 'I would like to sign up.'

'Why?' Kate asked suspiciously.

'Look, I know that you are very upset because of the football thing. You also tore my uniform. It's not like I am complaining or anything, but I am trying to make things right!' He said.

'Fine.' Kate snorted, and Leo signed up.

When Leo was signing, Brian also came there!

'Hi!' Kate said, hugging him.

'HI.' Brian said. 'I would also like to sign up.'

'Sure!'

After signing up, Leo and Brian headed towards their class.

'Are you here.......

'We are just friends.' Brian said crossly. 

'Oh ok.' Leo said, blushing scarlet.

Ryan also signed up for the petition. A few girls and the three boys headed to the headmaster.

They were surprised because the headmaster agreed! They went down in the grounds, but the football coach said, 'Prove it.'

'Okay girls,' Kate said encouragingly. 'I can't. We can!'

They cheered, and the match began.

Kate snatched the ball from Leo, who was desperately trying to win.

Before they even knew it, Kate's team won! The boys didn't seem happy about that, but Kate and her team were jumping up and down! It was the girls' football team! Woo-hoo!

After the football match, Kate held a small party. The Queen Bees came without an invitation! Kate didn't want to seem bad in front of others, so she cheerfully let them in.

'Hey.' Ryan said. 'Will you..... Dance?' He nodded towards the dance floor.

Kate's face burnt, and there was an unusual feeling in her gut. 'Um... Sure!'

He gently took her hand, and they gracefully twirled on the dance floor. Brittany was furious. Leo was also shooting them dirty looks.

After the dance, Ryan kinda leant closer. Kate was aware of her surroundings. There were the Queen Bees and Leo.......

She backed off.

'She doesn't like me.' Ryan thought.

There was a very long awkward silence.

'I'll......... I'll be right back.' Kate said and quietly headed towards the other girls.

Ryan's head drooped in disappointment. 

'It's okay, bro.' A voice said. It was Brian. 'I know Kate very well. She is very shy. Don't judge her so quickly.'

Ryan nodded and smiled reluctantly.

'How dare you!' Brittany shrieked at Kate. 'I told you he is mine!'

'I can talk to whoever I want to!' Kate shot. Brittany threw her juice on Kate's dress.

'What the____!?'

Everyone was staring at them. Kate turned her back towards Brittany and was walking towards Agatha when something hit her head very hard.

Catherine had thrown a disk when Kate's back was turned.

'Ouch!!' Kate said. Blood was trickling down her forehead. Black spots danced in front of her eyes.

And then something very shocking happened. Ryan lifted her, BRIDAL-STYLE!

Kate was furious. Why in front of everyone? Who does that? but she was too tired, and blackness enveloped her.

When she opened her eyes, she was in the nurse room. There was a band-aid around her forehead. Ryan was beside her. Kate quickly stood up. She felt dizzy.

'You need to rest!' Ryan said.

'No, I don't!' Kate shrieked. 'Why did you lift me?'

'I was just trying to help!' Ryan said, bewildered.

Kate stormed out, slamming the door behind her.

'Great.' Ryan thought. 'Now she loathes me.'

'I don't think of him that way.' Agatha said when she and Kate were in their room. 'He is nice.'

'I just need some time.' Kate sighed.

*Next day*

Kate POV

I walked into the cafeteria for breakfast with Agatha. The girls were gossiping and pointing towards me as I entered. Is there something on my face?

We sat down at a table.

Catherine passed me a newspaper. 'Your name is in the paper, loser!'

My eyes widened as I read the article.

LEAVE LEO MCCARTHY ALONE! GO WHERE YOU CAME FROM!

Kate McCallister is making Leo McCarthy sad, writes Brittany houser. She dated him for barely two days, then ditched him. Brittany also accuses her of tearing Leo's uniform and humiliating him. 'Kate is not a bright girl. She is an expert in creating love triangles.' Says Catherine Lee. She was also spotted dancing with Ryan Mack yesterday. Leo McCarthy, don't be sad. We are there with you!

Leo's mother died a month ago. We see the cute, goofy smile on his face, but inside, he is going through a lot. And to top it all off, this Kate is troubling him!

'I didn't know this!' I hissed. 'I didn't know his Mom passed away!'

Agatha shook her head. 'Ignore.'

'What ignore?' I said. 'I....... I can feel the pain!'

Flashback:

'Dad!' I screamed. 'Dad...... Open your eyes, Dad! Dad........ Dad.......'

Present:

I shuddered at the memory. 'maybe I should apologize.'

'Are you mad?' Agatha said. 'You didn't do anything!'

Still, I walked to Leo's table. He was sitting ALONE. Yes. Because of me. I didn't know how, but I did it. Ryan, Brian and Leo were friends. I broke them apart because of this love triangle thing. 

'Hi.' I said, sitting across him. 'I am sorry..... I didn't know you were going through this much.....'

'Yeah, you understand now, do you?' He said. Every head in the cafeteria turned towards us.

'Look, I am really sorry. I can..... help you..... I am your..... friend........'

'Friend?' He thundered. 'I don't need a friend like you!'

He threw the paper down on the table and stormed out of the cafeteria.

'I told you it's of no use.' Agatha said, once it was a break. 

I shook my head. 'Everything is........ ruined.'

The day was terrible. Leo didn't act nicely in Biology, too. Things between me and Ryan are still unstable. Agatha is busy with her meetings. I am alone. I only had a good time while playing football with my team. At least they understand me.......

I slumped on my bed, thinking. The only conclusion I came to was: Brittany. Brittany, Brittany and Brittany. She wrote the article. She ruined the party. She broke my crystal ball- the dearest memory of my Dad. I was shaking with anger.

Before I knew it, I was knocking on Brittany's room. When she opened the door, a smirk tugged her lips. 'Yes?' She asked.

'I want to talk to you.' I said in a controlled voice.

She didn't have a roomie..... I sat on the bed across her.

'You......' I said, my voice shaking with anger. 'What is your problem? You have got everything. You are popular, you have got MANY friends, you have got parents- both of them. Then why are you troubling ME?'

'That's how high school works.' Brittany said matter-of-factly. 'I don't want YOU to be popular. I hate to admit it, but you are extremely pretty. And you are a nerd- that brings you first in studies, too.'

I shook my head. A bully, she is. Why am I wasting my time?

After a while, I cooled down. I saw Ryan coming towards my locker, and I hid my face behind the locker door.

'Hi.' He said. There was a note of nervousness in his voice. 'Can we talk? Stroll in the football field?'

'OK.' I said.

We were quiet for a while, then finally, I said, 'Sorry.'

He shook his head. 'It's my fault. I am sorry.'

'I..... might have overreacted.' I said, my face red with embarrassment.

'Yeah, well..... I was just trying to help.' He said.

'I know.' I said. 'I am sorry....... Friends again?' I held out my hand. His face fell for a moment- I don't know why- but then, he beamed at me and shook my hand.

'So... will you like to hang out sometime?' He asked.

'Sure.' I said.

*The next day*

Author POV

'Hey.' Agatha said. 'Can we hang out?'

'Sorry.' Kate said. 'I have plans with Cleo and Ida.' Cleo and Ida were the new friends Kate had made from the football team.

'Oh ok.' Agatha said.

Once Kate was gone, Catherine came there.

'What are you doing here?' Agatha said crossly.

'Thought it would be nice if you would like to hang out with the Bees.' Catherine said.

'But we are, like, rivals!' Agatha said in disbelief. The most popular gang of girls wanted to hang out with an unpopular girl like her!?

Catherine shook her head. 'We and Kate are rivals. Why pull you in? And the Bees are pretty nice to their friends. We could get to know each other.'

Agatha couldn't believe what she had heard.

'Well..... OK!' She said.

Kate slumped on the bed.

'HI.' Agatha said.

'Hi.'

'The Queen Bees are pretty nice.' Agatha said.

Kate spluttered her juice all over the bed. 'You are hanging out with the bees?' She said in a hoarse voice.

'Well, yeah.' Agatha said.
