Once during the year 1950's my late uncle returned home on holidays. He was an Army Officer and he was an adventurous person with a daredevil nature. During holidays once he wanted to encounter with the ghosts of Gora Qabar, a British-made grave yard situated at Cuttack which was specifically used by Christian people residing at Cuttack. At night near about 10 PM he went to the spot by his 5 hp Royal Enfield Bullet taking with him one packet of Havana Churut and a match box. It was 11 PM and he opened the packet and brought out 10 numbers of churuts one by one.

After lighting the chururts he simply kept those on a rectangular stone and watched from a distance of about 10 metres. After sometime a few white apparitions arrived near the stone and lifted up the churuts. He marked that the lit churuts were burning so faster than they were fully puffed off to the butts within a minute by the discontented spirits by showing bright red flames on the churuts tips.

At that time there was no sufficient supply of electricity in Cuttack town rather most of the streets were being lightened by Municipality kerosene lamps. Still some of the streets and public latrines were remaining dark which were the favourable haunting place for the ghosts. Then a sudden gust of wind dashed over the head of my uncle which seemed whitish.
