SWINDLERS AND BRHMIN
SWINDLER'S AND BRAHMIN
Once a Brahmin priest purchased a goat from the village mart for the purpose of sacrificing it before his village deity.
It was afternoon. The priest carried the goat on his shoulder and started walking into his village. The distance between his village and mart was near about 2 km. The road sides were overgrown with brush. Five numbers of swindlers started following the priest as per their preplan. Because they wanted to capture the goat from the priest by hook or crook and to make a feast.
One of them told the priest, " O Bhaina why are to carrying a dog on your shoulder. You a strict Brahmin. This type of activity is not at all decent on your part. Please throw it down."
Brahmin was astonished by hearing the tricky words of the swindler. Without putting his ears to his talk the priest started walking.
After passing a furlong, again another swindler suddenly appeared out of the thicket. He also told the same to the priest, " Bhaina throw off the dog. Don't carry. You are a pious Brhmin."
The Brhamin without listening it walked on. Again rest 3 nos. of swindlers also did the same trick. Eventually the Priest was easily led and confused. He truly began to believe that he was carrying a dog instead of a goat.
Therefore, due to lack of self confidence, the Brahmin priest throw the goat off his shoulder and went on. Then swinders' happiness knew no bound. They burst out laughing. In no time they captured the sacrificial goat and carried it away with to their hideout. After butchering and dressing it, a swindler cooked. They enjoyed the chevon curry and rotis gleefuly.
