What is Sleep Paralysis?
If you don’t know, I’ll tell you what it is. It is changing state between wakefulness and sleep. It is presented with horrific hallucinations. Well, that is what Science defines it as.
You are wondering why I am telling you all this, right?
It’s because I want to tell you a story about a 22 year old man named Vedant.
He was lying on his bed. It was 2:46 am when he woke up and started seeing a dark shadow standing in the corner. His heart started palpitating. He tried to scream loud, opened his mouth and tried but it was not possible. In fact, to his horror he found himself paralyzed. All he could see and hear was the shadow in the corner and sound of the fan.
But this time it was different. The darkness seemed to have grown stronger. Vedant could see the moon casting an evil charm through his window.
Finally something felt like an eternity, but for few minutes. Vedant found himself able to move. Everything seemed normal now. He got up and took a long breath.
His body was weak, had no strength in him yet he still somehow managed to walk. He went to the kitchen and started drinking water until he regained energy.
( Hey, Bored already ! Alright, let me tell an interesting thing and then I will continue the story. Maybe this will refresh your mind.)
Sometimes we humans drink water not just to quench our thirsts but to feel normal. Now back at the story.
When everything seemed to be back normal again, vedant started to head back to his room. He was feeling lethargic. All he wanted was a sound sleep. But when he entered his room, there was a very strange smell that made more disturbed.
What was that smell? And moreover what made this happen?
Now, a scared Vedant wanted to shout but it would be unsuccessful. He moved towards his bed.
To his horror he saw a body lying on his bed. It was him. He was watching himself. He couldn’t believe his eyes. He started questioning himself “ Am I dead ? Or is this a nightmare ? ”
( Now I gonna ask you this : Who is the real Vedant ? The one sleeping on the bed or the one staring at himself ?
No answer ? I expected this. Relax i was just kidding. I saw you were bored. Don’t worry we’ve already reached the end. Just a few more minutes. )
At that time someone woke him up. It was 5 in the morning.
He gradually woke up to his realisation that it was all a dream.
What kind of a dream was it ?
It was all a nightmare and nothing else. Google named this the “Sleep Paralysis”.
( Well, that’s it mate. You look tired. Why don’t you go take some rest while I write another story for you? )
