I am an introvert, quiet person, good at expressing myself in art forms. I enjoy being a good listener. It was my second year of nursing training. The syllabus was vast but quite interesting.

At that time, command hospital, chandimandir also had fresh interns, just passed out from armed forces medical college, Pune. They were posted here for one-year internship.

Some of our medical classes were taken by these interns. That day was pediatric class and one of the interns, Lieutenant Ankit singhal, was taking our class on anaemia. In the due course, he happened to ask the class, 'The step-by-step procedure to blood formation in our body.' The whole class took my name because that was my topic for internal presentation. I very confidentially answered it and he was much impressed with my apt answer.

A few days after, my tutor called him to her cabin. I was the class representative at that time and I overheard the conversation. My tutor said, 'Do these girls trouble you while you take class. If it's so, mention them to me.' And he said, 'Yes, some backbenchers do trouble.'

After class I went to him in the ward and personally discussed with him over the topic and requested him to tell me if someone is troubling in class. He was mesmerized by my approach. To change the topic he said he was having headache and I gave him tablet paracetamol. And from there journey began and he started to find opportunity to talk.

On my evening duty, he will come for evening rounds and roam at back of me and I keep running from him. On one such evening duty, he brought cake and we three were to share. He first offered to me and shyly I refused at first. He again offered me the cake and said take it otherwise you will miss it. Replying to this I mumbled, 'I snatch what people try to take away from me.' Flat at my words, he finally started pursuing me more vigorously but by then his rotation shifted to medical ward. A week after my rotation too shifted to medical ward. He was much happy to see me there. In my shift, there was a Bengali nursing assistant. He learned Bengali from him and finally on one evening duty, he said out loud in the ward corridor 'Aami tumake bhalo bashi.'(I love you).
