November 09, 2019, is a night I'll never forget. It's the night I lost my 06 closest friends, Shaan, Ravi, Sejal, Gauri, Varun and Kriti. We were all in our early twenties, without a care in the world, our rebel mode was on, for us our parents were our worst critics and someone who did not understand us. Alas! If only we knew.

Ravi had purchased a new car and we all wanted the treat on the very next day. Our defination of party then was high speed drive along with liquor, after all only that could satisfy our adrenal rush. On that faithful day Sejal had came to stay with Kriti at her place and at night both the girls sneeked out of the house after dinner.

As planned they all gathered near Pinnacle society around 11:30 pm. "Let the party began", shouted all, blasting the music to full and enjoying beer and wiskey while the car touched the speed of 100.

As our car was speeding, trying to catch up with another luxury car that had overtaken us. All of us hooted and encouraged Ravi to overtake that car. As we reached the Palm intersection, which was a blind spot our vehicle collided with a container truck. I saw my friends' faces, frozen in shock, as our car crashed into the truck. The impact was deafening, and I felt myself being thrown around the vehicle.

The next thing I knew, I was in a hospital bed, surrounded by unfamiliar faces. The pain was unbearable, but the news that followed was even more devastating. Six of my friends had lost their lives in the accident. I was the sole survivor.

After 04 years I'm still trying to come to terms with what happened. The guilt of being alive while my friends are not is huge. I keep thinking about what I could have done differently. Should I have spoken up when our Ravi was speeding? These are n number of things we could have done differently or have not done at all to have averted this accident. I wish we had been more responsible, more aware of the risks.

I hope that our story will serve as a warning to others, a reminder of the importance of road safety and responsible driving, because someone is waiting for you back home.
