The Aquatic Adventure

“Dots, Stripes, Boo see the vast blue sea”, shouted Trunky the elephant thrilled. Trunky filled his trunk with seawater and curled it to his mouth for a sip. Suddenly he uncurled his trunk and “Whoosh!!!”

Dots the giraffe, Stripes the zebra and Boo the monkey ran, slipping in the golden sand to avoid the spray of seawater. “Naughty Trunky!” frowned Dots.

“I was thirsty. Seawater is soooo salty. Yuck!!! Sorry!” Trunky apologised.

“Ahoy there”, barked someone from the rocks. They turned to see a grey sea lion wave a front flipper at them. “Captain Sasha! Thanks for inviting us for scuba diving”, saluted Dots, Stripes, Boo and Trunky. They all got into the red and white paddle boat.

“What’s that black tube with an eye above the waves? asked Stripes. “That’s a periscope. When you’re underwater in a submarine it’s used to look above”, explained Sasha as he showed them the corner where wetsuits, oxygen-tanks, fins, masks and snorkels were kept. “Put on your diving gear and jump from here. My guard Ellie the electrical eel will be your guide. I’ll follow in the submarine”, instructed Sasha.

Quickly getting into their diving gear, all four dived underwater. The sights were awesome- a whole new world— lovely starfish, sea- horses, friendly jellyfish and coral reefs. They went deeper and deeper into the ocean till they almost reached the bottom when suddenly; Dots saw what seemed like an old wrecked ship! Excited, he signalled to the others to follow.

They saw it was full of tons of treasure-open trunks full of gold coins, pearl necklaces and gold bars were scattered all around it- it must have been a pirate’s looted ship! They had to inform the Captain at once!

On turning to make their way back, Stripes saw Boo writhing in pain- his hand had been cut by the sharp side of one of the swords lying uncovered in the shipwreck. This was serious! Water would enter Boo’s wetsuit and he might drown and worse, the smell of the blood was sure to bring one of the dreaded Sharks to them.

Stripes started back and signalled to all to follow him-Boo was right behind and the red colour of the sea behind Boo was worrying.

From the corner of his eyes Trunky saw a nasty Shark silently heading towards them. “Beware! Shark!” he warned the others. Ellie quickly took charge. He hid behind some weeds and as soon as the Shark made to attack Boo, Ellie gave it a strong electric shock! The shark jolted back in fear and swam away as fast as it could. “Whew! That was close” sighed Boo relieved.

Soon all of them reached the ocean’s surface. Captain Sasha jumped out of the submarines hatch and Dots told him of the treasure. “Wow. That’s amazing! I’ll tell the government and all of you will be rewarded” beamed Sasha.

“We get to take home some treasure?” jumped Stripes in delight. “Yes. That and these sea-shells for your friends”, smiled Sasha waving them goodbye.
