Dots the giraffe, Stripes the Zebra, Trunky the elephant, Boo the monkey were all very happy. They were going to meet Mr. Tinker in his laboratory at his house. Mr. Tinker was a computer scientist and had invited friends at home for tea. When they rang the bell of the house the door was opened by a tin can with eyes and ears and arms and legs.

“Who are you?”, asked Boo surprised.

“Hello, I’m Robbie the Robot”, said Robbie in his Robot voice.

“Come in friends”, said another welcoming voice from behind Robbie.

“Hello Mr. Tinker”, said all the friends giving him a big hug.

“You have a Robot?”, asked Dots astonished.

“Yes, I built Robbie and he is my best friend and man-Friday”, smiled Mr. Tinker.

“Wow that is so cool!”, said Trunky.

“Come let’s sit in my study. Your tea and cake are waiting”, said Mr. Tinker.

“Yum! The cake is delicious”, said Boo licking his lips.

“I made it”, said Robbie carrying a tray of buns and putting it on the table.

“That is awesome”, said all the animals clapping for Robbie.

“What else can you do Robbie?”, asked the friends excited.

“Well, everything!”, said Mr. Tinker winking his eyes.

“Really? We want to test Robbie”, said Stripes.

“I hope you won’t mind Robbie”, asked Dots.

“Not at all, I love a challenge”, laughed Robbie clanking his hands in glee.

“Dance for us Robbie”, said Boo.

“Let’s hit it”, said Robbie and suddenly the room was filled with music and Robbie began dancing to a hip- hop dance number.

“Can you do ballet?”, asked Trunky who tried to stand on his toes but was almost about to fall when Robbie extended his arms and stopped him from falling.

“Thanks, Robbie, that was close”, said Trunky grateful that Robbie had saved him from falling.

“Time to go the ballerina way”, said Robbie extending the toes from his feet straight and standing on tip-toes.

The music from Robbie’s in-built speaker changed to ballet and he began to twirl like a ballerina.

“Whoa! That was so cool”, clapped all the animals.

“Can we go skating?”, asked Boo.

“Yes, let’s go”, said Robbie converting his feet into skates and making Boo stand along with him on the skates.

Zoom, Whroom, both of them zipped across the room.

“Yaaay! This is so much fun!!!”, yelled Boo at the top of his voice.

“Yes, it’s really fun having Robbie as my friend”, said Mr. Tinker.

“Does Robbie like to read?”, asked Dots.

“Yes, he reads at the speed of light”, chuckled Mr. Tinker.

“Which book do you want me to read?”, asked Robbie changing his feet back from the skates they had turned into.

“Umm, I have to write a book review on Brief history of time”, said Stripes.

“A brief history of time, scanning library, author Stephen Hawking, Reading page 1 to last page. Summary ready.”, said Robbie.

“Wow, that was quick”, said Dots really impressed.

“How can Robbie do so many things?”, asked Stripes.

“Well, it’s all in the programming”, explained Mr. Tinker.

“Robbie do you want to show them where you get your energy from?”, asked Mr. Tinker.

“Yes, Mr. Tinker.”, said Robbie opening up the panel placed on his back.

“Can you see the charging slot here?”, asked Mr. Tinker.

“That’s where I get my energy from”, explained Robbie.

“Can you see that USB port there?”, asked Mr. Tinker.

“That’s where I get connected to the computer and get coded from”, said Robbie.

“What can you not do?”, asked Boo.

“Anything that I haven’t been coded for yet”, said Robbie.

“Can you play basketball?”, asked Trunky.

“No. Not yet”, said Robbie.

“Will you code me Mr. Tinker and I can go out and play with the friends?”, asked Robbie.

Mr. Tinker quickly connected his computer to Robbie and wrote a program to play basketball.

“There all done, you’re set to go”, said Mr. Tinker.

“Thank you”, said all the animals as they went along with Robbie to play basketball in the park.

Can you guess who won?

Yes, it was Robbie’s team because Robbie extended his arms every time and reached the basket so easily that even Dots the giraffe could not block him.
