STRANGE VOICES

Note: This story is based on Author's fiction. It does not apply to any real-life incidents. The story contains two chapters. Each chapter have different storyline and characters. They doesn't connect with each other.

CHAPTER 1

PUSH-OFF

MARCH 9, 2021

MUMBAI

In Mumbai, drug trafficking is quiet lot in that place. On March 9, 2020 on Tuesday, to stop this, a special operation called "PUSH OFF" had been done. It means, "The police officers in this will be in undercover for so many days." They will disguise and act as a drug dealer.

At last they will inform the customers who are buying drugs that they are police. And they will cease their vehicle. Since the undercover police had acted like this for too long, they had a drug house in the local area like a real drug dealers. So, on that day, two customers, came to the fake drug house, to get drugs from the undercover police.

The fake drug house door is being knocked, the undercover police opened the door, and asked the customers to come inside. When the two customers, entered inside, they said to the undercover police that they came to buy drugs. When the undercover police heard that, they opened their badge immediately and showed them. And suddenly, they took out the gun to the customers.

"Tie your hands behind the head." The police officers asked the customers. But the customers didn't do like what they said. Instead, they showed their badges, took the gun and pointed at them.

"Tie down immediately on the floor."

"Why?" The undercover officers asked to which the customers replied: "We are also an undercover police officers. We also came to stop the drug trafficking but from different team: Narcotics Control Bureau."

So, now both this undercover police team's, police officers doesn't know what to do. For the next 10 minutes, they pointed the guns at each other. But no one shooted. After that, they started fighting each other. Finally, after sometime, they stopped fighting. Both the police team has realized their mistakes.

"We're really sorry sir." The police teams apologized. Finally, no tragedy had happened to any of the police officers in both the team. When this matter came out by the media, some of them started mocking, they asked, "Is this the way police do their work?" While, the officers proceeds to do their next mission.

CHAPTER 2

THE VOICES

NOVEMBER 2015

PALAKKAD, KERALA

In November 2015, Palakkad. It's a winter time. A 30 year old Aparna read her favorite book in her house, in Ottapalam. When she was reading, suddenly she started hearing a voice in her head. What the voice said is…Please don't panic. I know, what I am talking about will shock you. But this is the easiest way for me. Me and my friend worked in a children's hospital and we thought of helping you.

Like this a voice heard in her head. Now, Aparna doesn't understand what is happening. Before this, she had not heard any voices in her head like this. And moreover, it's not her own voice. When we think we'll hear a voice in ourselves but this voice is not like that. And most importantly, it's not the voice of someone she knows. She had not heard this type of voice tone before.

So what Aparna did first is, she kept the book down and thought that she is imagining what she read. And she sat simply on the sofa and started blinking. She started noticing that the sound is coming from anywhere else. But to her surprise, the voice knows all actions of Aparna.

So, again the voice…This is not your hallucination. We're real. We're trying to help you. Like this, it heard again. But Aparna didn't believe in it. What she thought is…something happened to her mind and she started fearing. Aparna couldn't sleep that night.

In the next morning, she went to the hospital first. Aparna first went to a normal doctor.

"Aparna. You better go to a psychiatrist." And now, Aparna goes to a psychiatrist. The doctor checked Anjali, and said: "Aparna. You are totally fine and there's no problem with you. But I don't know why this voice hears in your head."

And he said further, "I don't have a clear medical explanation for that."

"What's this disease called doctor?" asked Aparna to which, the doctor replies: "It may be a disease called functional hallucinatory psychosis." That means Aparna is hallucinating but there is no proper reason for that. So doctors are giving Anti-Psychotic tablets, and counseling is also given to Aparna.

For the next few weeks, Aparna started taking the tablets, and went to the counseling correctly. The voice she heard, was also stopped. Now, Aparna thanked the doctors for saving her life. And said that she doesn't heard any voices now. The doctor also saw a relief at Aparna which means, she really heard that voice, and the problem was really there.

And he identified that the problem had been solved now by looking into her face. When Aparna come to know that she has no problem with her and her mind, she planned to go on a vacation with her family to celebrate it. And that too outside Kerala. But when she was in her holiday at Bangalore, she heard the voices again.

This time, what the voices said is…Aparna you're in a big trouble. You should return to Palakkad as soon as you can and gave specific street address. Aparna panicked when she heard the voices again. But this time, Aparna thought that the voices are saying the truth. So Aparna ran to her husband Ashwin and said about this.

But her husband said, "Anjali, it's now what you think. Avoid the voices and enjoy your holiday." But, Aparna couldn't relax and ignore the voices. Because it asked her to return back and mentioned that they are having a big problem. The voices kept on saying this to Aparna. Finally, Aparna convinced her family to stop the vacation and go to Palakkad.

When they reached Palakkad, Aparna and her husband, both of them went to the address in their car, which the voices told. They were shocked when they reached the place where the voice said, there it was a Brain Scan unit of a hospital. Now the voice started talking to Aparna.

But this time…Aparna, you have to scan your brain for two reasons. First, there's a tumor in your brain. Second, that tumor is swelling up your brain cells. So, immediately go inside and scan your brain. Like this the voice said.

When Aparna heard this, she panicked that it might be true. Without hearing to her husband, she entered into the brain scanning unit. And requested the doctor to scan her. Now what the brain scan unit doctors said is, "Which doctor asked you to scan here? Does you have any recommendation?"

Aparna replied, "I doesn't have anything. But, I hear voices in my head, that voice only asked me to scan here." The doctors doesn't take it simply, they said to Aparna, "Look Aparna. It's an expensive scan. And we can't take scan because the voice told to you. We want a clinical reason. Or we want a recommendation from the doctors who treated you before. Only then we can take the scan."

Now Aparna doesn't know what to do. And she seemed to be upset. So immediately she called her psychiatrist, and said: "Doctor. I heard the voice again." She explained everything that has happened. When he heard that, he agreed to get appointment for her. And said, "I think you are very much disturbed. So, I am doing this for your satisfaction." He recommended for her brain scan. After that Aparna had undergone the scan.

No one expected a shocking result to be awaited for them…Like the voice said, Aparna had a tumor in her brain. And Aparna's brain started swelling. Even the doctors couldn't believe this. Because Aparna had no sign of brain tumor symptoms. After that immediately they planned to make a brain surgery.

In that time, from Aparna's head… Aparna, you took a correct decision. The voice said like that. After that, they performed a brain surgery and removed the tumor. When she came out of the operation theatre, and when she regained her consciousness. She heard the voices again.

"Aparna, we are happy for helping you. Good Bye." The voice said like this. After that, Aparna doesn't hear any voices like that. Now, Aparna is living a happy life with Ashwin and her kids. Till now, the voices that heard in Aparna's head is not known by anyone from the medical community. And no one couldn't give a correct explanation for that.
