Sophie and the 8th grade drama

 

                                   Chapter 1 Sophie Summers

    ‘’Shove over you twerp’’ yells Nick as he passes me in the hallway. 

‘’Leave Sophie alone!’’My friend Lizz says. Yup that’s Lizz, always standing up for me… me the weak one. My friends help me up and as I turn around , Nick 0sneaks up on me and steals my coat! 

‘’Ha ha, got your coat Sophie!’’ says Nick, as he throws it into the boy's bathroom. I make a mad face at him, and try to walk it off, but I can’t get away! I turn around to say something and He punches me in the chest, and pulls the fire alarm. I burst into tears as everyone but me, exits the building. 

A rush of pain fills my body, and I struggle to get up. Lizz is probably outside wondering where I am. I get up and slowly walk to the nurses' clinic. Of course when I enter, there is no one there. 

I sit down in a blue chair. 5 minutes later, the nurse walks in. ‘’ Hi sweetie how can I help you?’’ Asks the nurse,Ms.Fluorescent

“ I got hurt today by a bully. He punched me in the chest. ‘’ I answer. 

“Oh dear oh dear I’ll have to tell the principal about this you know sweetie,” she answers

“Oh please Ms.Fluorescent,” I say in panic as she walks over to the button to contact the office” That will only make the matters worse” She cocks her head at me and pushes the button anyway.  

“Front office” says that lady at the front desk, Ms.Plum “ how can I help you Ms.Fluorescent?” 

“ I would like to report another bullying incident involving Sophie. She got hurt physically and mentally.” She responds. 

“ Oh dear oh dear oh dear not again! I shall alert the principal right away!” Ms. Plum alerts. 

“ Thank you very much Ms.Plum, have a nice day!” Ms, Fluorescent answers. Ms.Fluorescent hands me an ice pack for my chest, and tells me to rest on the cot. I lay there for 30 min and think. A million thoughts come into my head. Why is he so mean, does he think differently of me than others, and the question that freaks me out; does he like me? 

 

                          

I start to panic. I ask to go back to class and as l start to slowly walk down the hallway, l hope that the last thing that I was thinking about wasn't true. 

As I enter Ms. Auricles science class, a boy with light skin and dark brown hair and blue eyes greets me. ‘’ Why hello Sophie, where have you been?’’ the boy questions. Wait, I know him. It's Nick. 

‘’I’ve been in the clinic dealing with your injuries, that's where!’’ I snap back at him.

‘’I’m sorry, I didn't think that I would actually hurt you.’’ Nick says, innocently. 

‘’ Girls have problems, boys don't, OK? !’ I respond as I storm off to my desk at the front of the classroom. 

The rest of the day went really well. Nick never bothered me for the rest of the school day so that was nice. Then I started to think about if Nick DID like me. If he did it would explain a lot, like why he’s been so mean to me. He is kinda cute but I‘ve gotta admit he needs a personality change. 

                                  

       Chapter 2  Sophie summers

           Later that same night, me and Nick text each other.

Sophie123; what were you thinking today?

Nick324; I was just being nice ok!?

Sophie123; are you hiding something from me?

Nick 324; no

Sophie123; I don’t believe you. You're being foolish

Nick324;

Sophie123; What!? It's true, you can’t deny it. 

I decide to try to facetime him . I wait as I sit in silence. A text message pops up. It’s from Nick . 

Nick324; Don't even think about it.

“Yeash” I mumble to myself but I call him again anyway. 

He answers. 

‘’Hi Sophie’’ Says the voice that I am now happy to hear. 

My heart soars, but I keep it to myself. 

‘’ So what's up?’’ he asks. 

‘’ Wanna go to the park tonight?’’ I blurt out. 

 ‘’ Sure?’’ Nick answers. He has hesitation in his voice I note in my head sadly.

‘’ Meet me there at 8:00 bye!’’ I say fastly. 

I hang up abruptly after I said the time we will meet there. I can't wait!

                                        

                       Chapter 3 Nick Thomas

As soon as she hung up, I couldn't believe what she had said,and I CAN'T believe actually i agreed to it.Those words were the words that I have been waiting to hear ever since we met in 3rd grade. I check my watch. It's only 7:00. I frown. But at least that gives me 1 hour to get ready. 

                    

     30 minutes later

It takes me about 15 minutes to pick out what to wear and 10 more to figure out how I'm going to get there. Then I finally chose and told my mom and she said that I could go. Then I get dressed in 5 more minutes. I ask my mom to take a quick detour. We pick up some flowers on the way. I think to myself. Am I going overboard with this? I mean it was just a meeting at the park. Nah it's fine, the other side of me says. If anything I'm going UNDERbord. We finally arrive and there she is on a bench on the other side of the park. 

                                Chapter 4 

                            Sophie Summers 

   

              30 min before

As soon as I ended the call I started to silently freak out by running around my room with thoughts flooding my head, thoughts like OMG I JUST DID THAT and what do I do and most importantly…WHAT DO I WEAR!!!!!!! As I rush around I realize that I don't have transport TO the park and that I have to tell my parents! As I'm telling my parents I realized that I'm talking about going on a date with someone that punched me in the chest.                               

When I finally explain that he is nice, my parents agree that they will give me a ride. I get dressed in a blue dress with pink and white flowers on it, with a blue bow in my hair. Me and my dad hop into the car and drive to the park. My dad drops me off and wishes me good luck. I go to the nearest bench and sit down. 

                5 minutes later

 Nick finally walks up to me and hands me some pink flowers. Then he offers to buy us seafood. ‘’I love seafood!’’ I exclaim. 

‘’I love seafood too’’ Nick replies. 

             Chapter Five

             Sophie Summers

                  

                 10 minutes later

We bring our seafood up to the bench and sit down. I give him a shy happy smile. He smiles back. We eat our seafood ( we both got fish). When we finished our seafood, we both rushed to get to the trashcan first to throw away our trash. I reach the trash can, and turn back. I was very close to the bench, when I trip on a rock. Nick comes rushing towards me. 

‘’ Are you okay!’’ Nick exclaims. 

‘’ Yes’’ I say weakly. We both walk to the bench and sit there. 

At first, we were both at either end of the bench. Then we scooted a little bit closer. Nearly every 10 seconds we would scoot closer. Eventually, our legs touched. We look up at each other and……… he kisses me on the cheek! I am happy but I dont show it. At 9:00, my dad picks me up. ‘’ Well thats my ride. Bye!’’ I yell at him. 

‘’Bye’’ he yells back, as he gives me a grin. 

            Chapter 6 

           Nick Thomas 

When my mom picks me up, I can't believe what has happened. As I open the door, I think what if she really actually likes me! Then, I race up to my bedroom and grab my phone to call Sophie. 

‘’Hi, what's up?’ she asks. 

‘’I just wanted to ask if you wanted to go to the movies with me on friday night,’’I ask. 

‘’Sure’’she replies. 

‘’See you tomorrow at school, bye’’ I say. 

I hang up. Tomorrow I will get to see her again. I sigh,if only I could see her more tonight.

     Chapter 7   Sophie Summers      I cant believe that Nick Thomas actually kissed me on the cheek! As I'm walking up to my room Nick calls me. I automatically pick up without thinking.

‘‘Hi, what's up?’’ I ask.

‘’Do you won't go to the movies with me on friday night?’’Nick asks

‘’Sure’’ I reply 

‘’See you tomorrow at school, bye’’ he says 

He hangs up. 

Wow. Did he just do that? Yes he did! He just asked me out! I start happily freaking out around my room AGAIN. Then I think about how awkward it's going to be at school tomorrow, and how i'm going to have to explain to Lizz what happened. I decided to text Lizz then and there.

Sophie 123; you won't believe what just happened!!!! 

Lizz890; what happened? Tell me now!

 

Sophie 123: NICK THOMAS JUST ASKED ME OUT :) !!!

Lizz890; What?!?! Calling you now   

    Chapter 8               Lizz Falcon As soon as she texted me that I freaked out. In a bad way. I can’t BELIEVE that NICK TOMAS asked SOPHIE SUMMERS on a DATE!!!! 

I tell her that i'll call her then once she answers (which takes a hot minute) I say loudly 

“What Happened!!!!!” maybe a little too loudly because then she face times me and she looks a little hurt.

“Sorry, I'm just kinda FREAKING OUT here!!!!” I say to her kinda hurt the face.

“It's alright Lizz calm down!!!” She says “We met at the park tonight at the park,and he kissed my cheek!!!!” For some reason she seems happy to say this. I am not.

“WHAT!!!!!!” I scream. “I know I'm probably overreacting but Nick Thomas is the boy that PUNCHED YOUR CHEST!!!”

‘’ Turns out he was just trying to hide that he liked me,’’ Sophie says calmly.

“WHY ARE YOU ACTING SO CALM ABOUT THIS!!!!!” I yell maybe a little too loud because I heard my Mom coming up the stairs to see what was going on.

“ Have to go but this conversation is NOT over!!!” I say and hang up at just the right moment, because right when I hang up my Mom opens the door. 

“What is going ON up here!” she says to me.

“ Oh nothing Mom just that THE BIGGEST BULLY IN THE WHOLE SCHOOL JUST ASKED MY BEST FRIEND OUT!!!” I scream.

“ Ok ok calm down!” she says. I glare at her.

“Don’t give me that look young lady” she says sternly.

“Sorry Mom.”I say untruelly 

 Chapter 9            Nick Thomas

After she hung up, I almost immediately laid down on my bed to sleep. 

All of a sudden, I was fast asleep.It was spring and I was having a picnic with Sophie. 

Then I hear this voice: Baby just dance with me it's easy as 1,2,3, just come and be free with me. 

I turn around and it’s Sophie! She’s singing! I can’t believe it! She has such a good voice! Then again i had always suspected that she was a wonderful singer, it kinda just matched her personality. ‘‘Come a little closer’’ she says. I scoot closer. We get so close that we almost touch each other. 

I wake up, my pillow directly in front of my face. ‘’Oh it was a dream’’ I sigh. My heart sinks. I will always remember THAT dream. I SO wish it was true, or at least I could be asleep a little longer.Then it would have happened...the thing I've been waiting for since 3rd grade. The moment we look into each other's eyes, and… Nah that could never happen.

   The next few nights it was the same dream over and over again except more detailed than the one before. Like Sophie's singing seemed more on the tune and I scooch closer than I did the night before… and it seemed to go longer too. Then 2 nights before I was supposed to meet Sophie at the movies something happened!!!! 

                 Chapter 10 

 Sophie summers

After I called Lizz I started to get ready for bed but I was so tired that after I got my pajamas i flopped into bed and almost as soon as I hit my pillow I started to drift off to sleep. As I sleep I'm walking up a hill twaredes Nick. I sit down and set up a picnic then I start singing…. Something like 

“Baby just dance with me. It's easy as 1,2,3 just come and be free with me.” Which was odd because I had never heard that song before. And then I said, “come a little closer to me” then instead of coming closer he ran AWAY from me!! Then I woke up crying.

  Chapter 11  Nick Thomas

   

  Those dreams seemed so real when I woke up I was so disappointed. Then I finally decided to call Sophie.

  

‘’Hey Sophie?’’ I ask.

‘’Yes’’ She says tears in her eyes.

“Woah what's up with you? Are you ok?”I ask 

“I’m fine.”She says firmly but also unsurely.

“No I don't think you ARE ok,”I say  

‘’I have something to tell you!’’ we both say at the same time.

“You go first” Sophie exclaimed, still having trouble speaking 

“Ok, so I had a dream about you,’’ I answer.

‘’Me too’’ Sophie says. 

‘’ And we were having a picnic. Then you sing a song, and then tell me to scooch closer to you. So I do and then I wake up.’’ I say. 

‘’Mine is different’’ Sophie says. ‘In my dream, you don't scoot closer. You run away.’’ She says bursting into tears. 

I try to calm her down and she finally calms down but it takes a while.

‘‘Loosen up’’ I tell her. ‘’ It'friday’’. 

‘’Meet you at 11:00! Bye,’’ She says.

‘’Bye,’’ I say. 

  

      Chapter 12 Lizz Falcon 

As I walked into the classroom it seemed like a normal school day. But when I was about to sit in my seat someone I didn't know was sitting at my desk! So instead of me sitting next to Sophie, I was sitting behind her. I tried to get a good look at the boy sitting next to her. I get a glare in return for just looking at him. He has blond hair with a cute hairdo’, and blue eyes, I’ve got to admit he's kinda cute. He seems to be having a conversation with Sophie. I poked a shoulder only to get a blank face in return.

‘’What's your name ‘’ I ask him. 

‘’No talking during class Ms.Falcon and Mr.Thickle.’’ Mrs. Calahan. 

I quickly become silent. Then Mrs.Callahan returns to the lesson. Throughout the entire day, I had to notice that Nick and Sophie kept giving each other happy looks. The new kid wasn’t too happy about THAT.

During lunch, me and Sophie were sitting at the ushalwal table, when Nick and the new kid showed up. 

“Hey Nick,”Sophie says, almost completely ignoring the new kid.  

“What's up?”Nick says. 

 

“Who's THIS guy and what's his name?” he says, finally noticing the new kid.

“Who, him?”Sophie asks dully pointing to the new kid “his name’s Jacob.”

‘’Oh uh hi?’’ Nick says. 

I just stand there. This conversation is getting weird. 

There is a long silence. Nick and Jacob stare at each other and Me and Sophie stare at each other. 

Then Nick finally speaks up. 

‘’Ok for one, she's with me two, you can't just walk up to someone and talk to them and assume that they like you. ‘’ Nick yells. 

‘’Oh yeah bring it on!’’ announces Jacob. 

The two boys start to fight. Fists are flying and everyone in the cafeteria is watching them. 

Me and Sophie give each other a nervous glance. 

A hand is raised in the air the winner is……… Nick! Jacob is on the ground with a despicable look on his face. And that's when the vice principal Mrs.Phillips, walked into the room. 

‘’What is going on here!’’ Mrs.Phillips exclaims. ‘’You two boys in my office now!!!!’’ 

Nick and Jacob hurriedly walk to Mrs.Phillips’s office. 

From the lunch room we hear Mrs.Phillips yelling loudly at the two boys. 

Nick comes into the room smiling and Jacob, hanging his head.

“Umm,what just happened?” I whisper to Sophie

“I have no idea.”Sophie answers

  Chapter 13              Sophie Summers   

“Umm, what just happened?”Lizz whispers to me. 

“I have NO idea.” I answer. 

The rest of the day went pretty smoothly, before I knew it my Mom was picking me up and driving me to the movies. I and Nick had an awesome time at the movies. But what we didn’t know was that Jcaob had seen the same movie that we saw at the exact time that we saw it and sat RIGHT BEHIND US! He taps my shoulder. 

“Hi Sophie’’ he says.

I whip around to look at him. 

 “What are you doing here and what do you want?!”I whisper angrily

“Come a little closer’’ Jacob says

‘’No way! Why would I do that!’ I whisper yell.

        I feel a hand on my head. It's Jacob's hand.

       He's pulling me closer and he is making a kissy face. I slip under his arm. 

        I quickly tell Nick and he shoos Jacob away. 

        I look at Jacob who was giving me an angry face as he steps out of the theater.

“He's probably spoiled,” I think to myself. Another thing that I didn’t know was that JACOB HAD FIGURED OUT MY ADDRESS! 

            Chapter 14    Jacob Thickle

On Saturday I lost my dog and was knocking on doors looking for it.I had knocked on several doors but it was when I knocked on the door of 689 peachtree road when he found something unexpected. I saw a brown haired who was very pretty and about my age opened the door in front of me. Wait, it's Sophie!

‘’Hey Sophie’’ I say in a low voice.She starts to close the door in my face,then someone's foot blocks the door.

“Gabriel!!!! stop!”Sophie yells.

“But i wanna play video games with him!!!”The boy says.

“YOU BARELY EVEN KNOW HIM!!! ”Sophie yells back.

“Is this the boy you’ve been talking about?” the boy askes. I look hopefully up.

“WHAT? NO! THATS NICK!”Sophie screams then she starts to me.”HE’S A SPOILED BRAT!!! Gabriel PLEASE go to your room!”

“But-”Gabriel starts

“NO BUTS!”Sophie says. Gabriel leaves the room with a hanging head. 

“Now to deal with you.’’ She scowls at me. 

“Hey, I was just looking for my dog.” I say truthfully.

”Why are you so mean?” Sophie says, annoyed.

    ’’I just want you to like me” I say, speaking the truth. 

     ’’No way’’ Sophie says, as she grabs her phone and runs down the stairs. What's up with her? I think.

 Chapter 15 

  Nick Thomas 

Beep beep beep my phone buzzes. It's Sophie. 

“Hi Nick wanna have a picnic at the park?’’ She asks.

“Sure’’ I say.

“Can you bring the food though?’’ She says.

“That's fine with me ”I answer “but just out of curiosity why?”

“I'll tell you at the park’’ She says

We sat down on a grassy hill and chatted for a bit and told each other about our families. 

Then that's when our eyes met. We looked into each other's eyes. 

‘’Come a little closer Nick’’ Sophie said.

Suddenly before I can scoot closer to Sophie, I see Jacob with a mob of friends coming over the hill. 

“Oh my gosh, they're coming for me!” I think frantically I sprint down the hill and completely forget about Sophie. 

            Chapter 16 

    Sophie summers 

 

    What is Nick running from? It can’t possibly be me that he is running from, we were having such a great time! Then I see it! Turning my head and staring back at me is……… Jacob. 

‘’When I was at your house I hadn't had the faintest idea of what you were thinking, just running off like that.’’ Jacob said smoothly. ‘’So me and my friends decided to get back at you!’’ he grins a terrible grin,like he was almost to the point of ruling the world,but I was his one obstacle left in his way. 

‘’Get out the rope boys’’ he yells back to his friends. 

All of the other people who were at the park stopped and stared. But then they all got up to get something. I realized most of them were boys and ALL of them went to go get ROPE!!! With all the people it was easy to tie me up and put tape on my mouth even though I tried biting and kicking.

  

Then we all walked to his house which happened to be just across the street in the Mangrove Mansion neighborhood. 

“So he IS spoiled.”I think , frantically trying to calm myself down. But that doesn’t help because if he is spoiled then his parents let him do everything he wants. Including tying a girl up and sticking her in a closet!! 

 For about 2 hours I sit in the closet, doing nothing. Then I remembered! I always carry an emergency bobby pin. First, I find a way to get this rope off me and then I pick the lock. 

A Few minutes later the door swung open and a few boys about my age were supposed to be guarding the door but I guessed that they had fallen asleep during the 2 hours I was in the closet. Because when I opened the door they were on the floor snoring.  

I slowly start to tiptoe down the hall towards the door. The floor is very creaky so I half monitor where I step. I step on a plank in the floor and it creaks. 

‘’Ha that's where you are we knew you would escape sometime.’’ Jacob says.

‘’ Assemble the wall of people’’ he yells. 

All of his hench people start to form a tall wall but I know how to escape. 

I notice the small phone. Then I measure the diameter with the micrometer and quickly plan my escape.

              10 min later

I climb up onto the phone stand and jump towards a person in the middle of the human wall and he falls and the whole tower collapses. I reach for the handle to the door and…… Jacob grabs my hand.

‘’You won't escape that easily.’’ He scowls. ‘’ Get the leftover rope’’ he calls to his hench people. 

They are about to tie me up again, when Nick opens the Mansions front door, scoops me up and he runs as fast as he can. 

Then it happens. We look into each other's eyes and kiss. A full on kiss. I can tell that Nick is freaking out on the inside. 

He puts me down and he walks me home. 

‘’Bye’’ he says.

‘’Bye’’ I say awkwardly.
