Silent Revelation
Silent Revelation
Diya sat on the bed and opened her diary. She always wrote the day's happenings in her diary. It had been her only confidante since years. Diya didn't trust anyone enough to share her innermost secrets and emotions.
She started writing
Dear diary,
Today has been an eventful day. I attended my dear cousin Payal's engagement. I am so happy that she has found the right match .
I never expected to see Varun there. Had I known about it, I would have gladly stayed at home. After all that has happened, he acts and talks so normally. I can't believe it.
Never have I revealed to any one before that incident which happened to me 8 years ago when I was sixteen. Sixteen, the age when I was just getting to be aware of my feminity. The innocence of a child trapped in a woman's body. I always longed for a brother and found a substitute in Varun, my Maasi's son. He was eight years older than me and blindly adored him. That fateful day, when he came, Ma had gone to attend a function. I made tea for him and gave him. I sat besides him chatting as usual. He hugged me all of a sudden. His embrace was so tight, he was pushing himself against me. It didn't feel right but I was too stunned to react. He was in a frenzy and tried to kiss me. I turned my face away and tried to loosen his grip. Luckily the doorbell rang at the moment and he released me. I felt so violated, so cheap and used. He had the gall to tell me" You are enough to drive anyone insane, to tempt even a virtuous man" and left. He made me feel as though I had asked for it .
I never revealed this to anyone,
not even to Maa. He went abroad for his Masters degree and then stayed back to work there .
I never knew he was back and our paths crossed today. I can neither forget nor forgive him. I see no point in revealing the incident to anyone now. Will anyone believe me? I carry the weight with me and cannot reveal it to anyone.
You will remain the keeper of my secrets forever
Good night
Diya finished writing and lay down to sleep
Diya no longer trusts any men and can never dream of falling in love with anyone. That incident has scarred her for life.
