Our association began almost 10 years ago and over the period it has strengthened our bond. I have become hopelessly dependent on you and can't imagine a life without you.

It wasn't like this initially. The interaction was minimal and I could stay away from you. I wasn't forever worried about your whereabouts. My eyes never searched for you eagerly. I never felt a thing if you were out of sight.

But slowly and steadily you worked your charm on me and I felt myself giving in. I started enjoying your company. I began spending more time with you and discovered so many things. The more I saw you the more I liked you.

Now I am hopelessly addicted to you. My day begins and ends with you. I search for you anxiously if you are out of sight even for a few minutes. I need you to accompany me wherever I go. I can't imagine you being separated from me. When I am not able to see you for a few hours the longing becomes very intense. My fingers itch to hold you, to caress you

By now you must have guessed that I am talking about my addiction to the mobile phone. What was earlier just a means of communication now has become a source of information, entertainment, a time-pass, and a constant companion. The various social media platforms lure you into its web and once you fall prey to it, there is no going back. Though this writing is an exaggerated version, the addiction is true. Easy accessibility and convenient to use, I prefer the phone to the laptop.

But let me tell you honestly that the most time I spend on the phone, is on reading blogs on various platforms. I feel sad that this addiction of mine has distanced me from my first love.......reading books.

My New Year resolution for 2024 would be to use my phone less and read real books more. I hope I can stick to my resolution.
