He never thought that the day would ever come in his life. Merely possible it was. Yet it did.

Well, I know you readers are puzzled. Ah, leave it. Let's walk behind.....to some years ago.

He was in his room doing his homework. The clock struck 12 noon. Sunday it was.

His parents, quite stable economically, but unstable with their "RELATION" though. He heard his parents quarreling with each other just a few minutes ago. He couldn't perfectly understand every lines of their quarrel but it was daily. After some times, he heard a car leaving their garage. He was curious.

He came out of his room to the balcony, peeped out and found his mom's car leave their garden alle'. She was a doctor, pretty well she made.

He was more curious now. He slowly came downstairs. He couldn't find anyone there. He looked for his dad in their living room, when he heard angry groans coming from their bed room. He rushed towards it and found his father tearing their family pictures hysterically. Especially the pictures in which he was there with his dear mom. The little boy was scared. "What are you doing Dad? & where is mom?" he said fearfully. His dad looked at him. He threw away the picture in his hand on the floor. "Dare you utter the word "Mom" from today onwards. Go and do your homework.-" his father raged out.

He cried out abruptly. Ran upstairs and shut the door. He couldn't focus on his studies for some time. He was feeling too lonely. Whenever his dad beat him or scolded him, his mom was always there for him. He was feeling lonely. Too lonely. There was no one he could reach out for.

He couldn't remember when he fell asleep, when he heard his father banging the door loudly.

"Rascal, let me once enter the room. I'll break your bones into pieces tonight."

Tonight? The little boy was so scared and tired that he fell asleep while studying  and didn't remember of having lunch. He woke up quickly and rushed to open the door. As soon as he opened the door, his father pushed him on the floor, kicked him. The boy cried out.

His dad pushed him towards the wall and told "No food for you tonight kiddo. You need to learn a lesson"!

He locked the door from outside and went downstairs. It was already evening. His Friends would arrive soon. Now they would have some fun with glasses of liquor held in their hands.

The boy shouted for help, but no one came. He cried loudly. He knew no one would atlleast look out for him. Where is mommy?

Maintaining his routine, he packed his bag for next day's school. While he was packing, an envelope suddenly dropped on the floor from his book shelf.

He took it in his hands and slid out a folded paper. He opened the fold and was quite astonished. The paper read -

"Dear Ivan,

I hope you'll get this letter. There were many things to say face to face but...ahh I didn't get enough time to. I don't know whether I'll ever see you again,......so wanted to alert you.....as soon as you get this, please....please run far far away from the house....your Dad is not a HUMAN....he is a DEVIL...he'll devour you.....please my son run away.....stay safe......be happy.....don't worry about me....."

                                                                               Your dearly : Mommy

A drop of tears rolled down his cheeks and fell on the piece of paper, he didn't even notice. He slowly sat down leaning on the door behind him. He couldn't bear it longer, he started sobbing.......sobbing........

Today he was remembering that day.......the long 17 years ago......the same day it was....his mom left him all alone........

"Hey Ivan, wassup? Help me out man, see the queue outside...damn....clock's ticking.....!" cried out his fellow mate working at the ration shop. He was at the ration house. The queue in front was unbelievable long.

The government had sent out curfew notice through out the nation. People were panic stricken. They wanted to store as much ration as possible.......

The day it was. Yes the day it was.

Rafal Veroskyi had already declared the war on Ukraine, and the Russian troops were heading forward. The Russians were hungry? Oh am I wrong? Yeah....not all the Russians.....President Rafal himself.....

Zaporizhzhiya Nuclear Power Station in Donbass, perhaps world's largest one, was what Mr. Rafal was eyeing at. He wanted it in his grasps. He didn't even care. He just declared a WAR. "It's just to show them that they were very very wrong without handing over it to me....."- was his thought!

The queue was increasing time by time. He worked hard all this time. People were crowding like anything.......ration...they wanted...

That is when the very first missile was dropped.....there was a huge explosion....the ration house went up in flames.

The death count reached upto as many as seven-hundred people at once! Those who could survive...ahh leave it...left out to be crippled forever.... He was affected too....he couldn't remember anything else but that he.....fainted...---

He came round after a certain period of time. He was quite surprised. How many days did he sleep? 1 day, 2 days, 3 days? He couldn't remember a single thing......"Where am I?" he murmured.

A couple of young men in white cloaks entered the room. Wait, a "ROOM"?!

He was laid on a pile of ragged blankets . The roof was nothing else but old plastic. There was nothing....except a jug of water and a box of medical emergence out there.

The young men helped him to get up and sit. He couldn't make out at all where he was? Hospital, perhaps, he thought. "Don't be afraid...hey...the doctor is coming soon....you have opened your eyes fully after today only from the day you were brought here. Has it not been her, the doctor, god knows what would have happened to you.....be thankful to both her and the almighty that you are still safe....innumerous passed away at this Army Camp ...." one of the man said.

No sooner the man had told this, a woman of middle age entered. She was dressed in a doctor's cloak with a stethoscope round her neck. "How are you feeling my boy?- her sweet voice startled him. He looked up and was just speechless. He found the face....yes he did....the face he was searching from a long ....long time..

He was desperately searching for that face....he found....

He couldn't control his tears.....he got out from the clutches of the young men and reached out towards her. He grabbed her tightly and cried out loud......tears wetted her shoulder.....

She returned.......yes she did.....

That's all it is......nothing else to say.....
