I woke up for the third time in the night and this time I definitely heard something inside my cupboard. I turned on my phone’s flashlight to first check under my bed. Other than a lizard running across the floor there was no other creature. I moved the phone towards the cupboard and did not see anything unusual. I know I will be safe as long as the cupboard is in my view. The wooden cupboard slowly started to sway back and forth. I knew it could be due to the breeze coming in from the window but I did not want to move out of the bed. I knew things would only get scared if I keep on seeing the cupboard and forced myself to sleep. However, the noise from the wooden cupboard did not let me sleep. I slowly walked up to the window to close it but it was already shut which petrified me. I was dismayed and perplexed when I did not have the answer to why my cupboards are animated where there is no wind. I slowly walked towards the cupboard with my phone’s flashlight and latched it. Suddenly I noticed a shadow on the other side of the door. The shadow stood still.

“What is it Serene?”, I asked as I expected a giggle from my elder sister who loves pranks.

“Serene please don’t do this. Come in and hug me. I am already scared. I have a test tomorrow and need to wake up early”, I said.

There was no response from outside and the shadow started to move from side to side. I went towards the door to open it but midway I suddenly realised that my sister left for her concert tour the previous night. My face became pale and I was terror-stricken when I heard someone speak from the other side of the door.
