Sanitha...!! whenever I hear any one talking about her all I remember about her is the struggles she faced, how strong the lady was she was one of the closet friends to our family who was much liked by my granny… Sanitha was born in a small village called Bhageeratha, she was the youngest daughter out of 6 siblings, four girls and two boys – she was only 15 years old when she was married to a 30years old man. At the very young age the burden of taking care of huge family consisted of 45 members fell in the hands of Sanitha, she gave birth to her first son at the age of nineteen and for her second son at the age of twenty-three. Soon the village she resided turned to be the waste land due to heavy drought that caused, some of her family members expired, some got separated and she moved to Bangalore with her mother-in-law and father- in-law along with her husband and children.

Beginning of days in Bangalore she was not much comfortable. Neighbors looked down at their family, the rent was huge, paying fees for school became difficult, later in the days it became difficult for them to even buy groceries. Bad luck strikes her so hard that she lost her husband soon after three months of her stay in Bangalore. Bad luck seemed not to spare her; it followed her- soon her mother-in-law expired only after fifteen days of Sanitha’s husband’s death who was always thinking about her lost son. Sanitha got her husband’s work- she managed her living with her two sons and her father-in-law, life became very hard for her to lead as the salary she was receiving was not enough for her to pay her sons school fees.

With the advice of one her neighbors, her sons were put to hostel which was run by a Guru. Those kids struggled at the hostel as they did not get adjusted to hostel life. It was like a great chance for those children as they were taken back home for few days as their grandpa had expired. After fifteen days when Sanitha asked them to go back to hostel they did not agree and was so stubborn that he revolted against her and they even discontinued studies.

While the elder son became a gangster the younger one became a thief. Sanitha was still more disturbed with their behaviors her health started getting upset when her both the sons was arrested at midnight. From that day she started getting frequent headaches which she ignored. her sons tortured her life to death by asking to give the money which she had saved from several years by even counting on a single rupee...

It so happened one day that her younger son fell ill for long time. He had high fever everyone which did not reduce for several days, but one night he had a heart attack and died right in front of Sanitha. Sanitha the mother’s heart was broken into pieces her struggles since her childhood never ended instead it kept on adding!!!! After she lost her second son Sanitha still managed to stay strong despite all her struggles but day by day her health was decreasing. Her elder son abounded her and left her to stay alone – she passed her time staying here and there in the park and in our house too.

It was 2-3-2020 neighbors complained police about some foul smell from Sanitha’s house and they had not seen her coming out from one week!!! As the police broke the lock, they found dead Sanitha inside her house…… postmortem report said ‘death by sudden heart attack’. Her elder son did not come to his dead mother her final rites were done like as though she was an orphan……

My poor Sanitha….!!!
